Only 2 MB turrets on 23k? And while she's a longer ship I don't think you can fit 5 twin 130mm, 5 twin 50mm, and 8 twin 25mm on each side, all on deck level, and have them all fit, let alone keep them inside the armored citadel. And why BL for the 25mm? Shouldn't they be machine guns or at least QF?

How about superfiring them for and aft like on the Indian Battleships?

Did Rocky make that drawing, or did you? It's really nice either way, just curious. I love the paint job, but it still only has 2 MB turrets, to easy to lose 1/2 your firepower in one hit. And I HATE quad mounts. X(

That's a Rocky drawing. I use the same scale and have borrowed a few things from Rocky, but my ships tend to be uncolored and nowhere near as detailed.

Hey DF, don't you think you "signature quote" should be sited? The gentleman that uttered it is well know, and I'm sure we all know who said it, but still it seems disrespectful to use it without siting the source. Of course that IMHO.

Hell, I might be from Holland, but even I know that Nimitz said that...
...
...
... Did I say Nimitz? I meant of course Rear Admiral D.G. Farragut. :)

the 25mm BL just forgot to change it to AA, I DO like triples because its an effective use of space and armor

Fixed!

Considering how much "do not plagarize" is preached at school, I should have known better!

13

Friday, April 25th 2008, 10:21am

With all the DP and AA that ship would be great in the role filled by the USN Fast BB's during WWII, but w/o any CV's to escort, why such a light MB? Only 3,371kg broadside? I guess I just see that kind of weight and think BB/BC not REALLY BIG Cruiser. But, who knows, by 1940 you may have a CV to escort.

14

Friday, April 25th 2008, 4:49pm

Well it is basicly a CA or light BC, heavy DP because it will probably not operate in a CVBG (unless attached to allied TF). A heavier MB would be nice but Persia can only produce 3 Kt of material per quarter and a heavier ship is unlikely even this is sort of an White Elephant

The final Persian study concerning a Kaveh replacement, as the IDC noted that 33kts and 14" guns were probably not enough to be able to contend with the CA,BC and BB entering service in potential rival navies a 16" and 35 kts study was ordered. This study however showed that an Persian MSC to fulfill the requirements was far to expensive for Persia in the foreseeable future

Not only expensive, but underguned I think. Six 16" guns on a 43,000 ton hull seems like an incredible waste. She's fast but probably abit vulnerable to dive bombers and plunging shells.

Raise her freeboard

You'll get more hulll strength, and will be able to reduce her size some.

Looks pretty respectable, that. A bit faster than my attempt at a CA.
