Belgian Government

The Government of Belgium is by a constitutional monarchy.

The Monarch is chosen by the people in the form of the Parliament, and serves for life. While traditionally hereditary, this is not mandatory.

The Monarch serves as president, and leader of a Council of State. The Council of State consists of hand picked experts in a variety of fields and meets in absolute privacy with the cabinet. The Council of State is modeled on the Dutch Raad van Staat.

The Monarch is also head of the Special Investigative Service, charged with investigating government corruption.
