NATO Joint Maneuvers: Ongoing Report

Fleet Problem XV

Introduction

This operation will be a joint-nation, joint-services excersize simulating a hostile assault on the Mexican Canal Caribbean terminus, situated at Coatzacoalcos.

Black Force will simulate a hostile force intending to invade and seize the port of Coatzacoalcos. The Naval force will assemble and depart from the port of Kingston Jamaica, and traverse the Yucatan Channel to begin the excersize. Long Range air support (scouting and bombing) will be embarked from bases in the Florida Keys and Cayman Islands, and will only be permitted to engage Naval units, and targets on the Mexican coast.

Blue Force will simulate a defensive force tasked with destroying Black Force and securing Coatzacoalcos. Naval Forces will assemble and deploy from Veracruz, and be limited to operations from bases at Merida, Cancun, Veracruz, and Tampico. Coastal air support from Mexican air bases will be allowed, but only against Naval targets, and intercepting Black Force planes; Attacks on Key West and Georgetown will not be allowed.

Force Structure Analysis:
Black Force represents a diverse threat, with a Battle fleet consisting of fast, modern capital ships and escorts against Blue Force's larger Battle fleet consisting of older, and slower Capital ships. Scouting forces are evenly matched, with a third small carrier being designated to operate with Black Force's battle fleet.

"Blue Force will simulate a defensive force tasked with destroying Red Force", so where is the Red Force?

I think he meant Black Force.

Perhaps AANM forgot to send their ships for Red Force, to be destroyed by Blue Force. :)

Or "Red Force" is the codename for the Philippines...

6

Tuesday, March 4th 2008, 12:07am

Unlikely. The Philippines do the destroying themselves. No need to use any Force for that. :)

7

Tuesday, March 4th 2008, 12:43am

Its Blue fleet vs Black fleet.

8

Fixed. I originally wrote the first description as Red v Blue, but for some reason it got changed to Black v Blue, and I missed the references to Red in the original description.

It's all Wes' fault for not catching that in the month we've been discussing it in the NATO forums. << -duck-

Every one of the individual groups outweighs my entire navy. The whole force combined probably outweighs the combined navies of every nation east of the Rhine and west of the Pacific... 8o

Your navy and mine combined there Brock. Its frightening really how much naval power NATO has.

OOC: Not Quite, there's 16 capital ships as I count, and Russia has 14, toss in Bharat, that's 18 right there. Technically Nordmark and the Netherlands have territory east of the Rhine, most of the SAE Empire, Turkey, etc. etc. :)

As for AANM, it's hardly worth considering since we are sane and hardly want to provoke NATO (not like last time) ... However, Blue Force alone could indeed likely beat the Dutch Navy alone, at least in this theater. :)

...and keep in mind, we were trying to keep it small!

Teensy-weensy, even. But mischief ensued, and after chasing down the Canadians with two-by-fours, we put them back to normal....

BACK OFF!!!
I'VE GOT A SHRIIIIIIIIINK-RAY!!

Edit: Found this, pretty sweet;

Hmmmm, I wonder if Blue force's scouting groups can reach Key West, there isn't anything about that in the rules of engagement.

Oh & I suppose Veracruz has handling facilities for Akron & Macon?
