Not by any stretch of the imagination historical. An all-or-nothing, 30-knot, 12x14", 46kt American Standard "battlecruiser" based on the New Mexico-class.

Not to dampen your enthusiasm mate, but I think Warship Projects DB is a better place for pure 'own design' type stuff; I think this section is really meant for purely Wesworld related designs.

Why the odd 5.1" caliber secondaries? While the USN discussed a few intermediate calibers (5.4" as I recall), it was never seriously pursued. As this predates the Lexington/SoDak designs, I'd assume the standard 5"/51 secondaries, with 5"/25 AA guns, perhaps (when modernized), or an entirely 5"/38 gunset when modernized.

Likewise, the 1917 AA armament is extremely heavy

Um... two successful ones. :P

I tried to turn HMS Exeter into a 6x12" super cruiser but that was full of fail.

As to her secondaries and AA... Sometimes I just type these things in and don't think about them. I probably meant to use the 5/51 and 5/25... and I had originally designed her with the 30s and 40s already in mind. Whups.

As for not being Wesworld related... hey, we have pirate aircraft carriers. After the Cleito Treaty made the ship illegal, a USN commander stole the ship along with the time-traveling mad scientist's lovely daughter who had the cloaking and wormhole device from the Philadelphia Experiment, and is using them on the lunar seas to fight gray aliens who enslaved the population of the Roanoke colony and uses them for... nevermind. :D 8o :rolleyes: We should just stick with pirate aircraft carriers.

err, actually...Deathshadow's a carrier now because Renown and Repulse caught up with her when she was a Light Cruiser and put a large hole in her stern :P
Ithreko actually does run a small pirate group, and I have my own raider in the Caribbean, come to think of it.

Cue Ith's spiel on Harlock and the Flag of Freedom... (:

Piracy involving rather complex, expensive, and ships built very much like warships is somewhat common in Wesworld, mostly because until recently, we didn't have much in the way of wars; fighting pirates became the main way of getting any conflict at sea going, I think.

Found the pic of my own pirate's ship, which I think only a handful have seen before, and put it up under Deathshadow.

Worse comes to worse, it's jettisonable.

The general mindset is, the ship isn't supposed to get into that kind of situation. The only real combat it should get into would be to slow down pursuers enough to allow it to escape.

Given that, having a hangar to keep the scout sheltered from the weather is considered worth having. And it's Galleon-y, arr.

Wouldn't Constitution look just like Lexington and Saratoga? These were both finished in Wesworld as Battlecruisers (while Ranger and Constellation were converted to carriers)

As for the pirate rant (I'll skip it mostly)...Matsumoto pirates are not like real pirates. They are more fun to play if you like honorable characters. These follow there own rules and own code. There are three of them though one (the predreadnought Arcadia) was lost to Indian, Danish, and Chilean forces. A new Arcadia is supposedly being built. Deathshadow is the known "modern" pirate ship of the group, and has been rebuilt as a carrier to compliment the new Arcadia when it is finished. The support ship is still presently unknown to the world in general (though it should be fairly obvious to those that follow the Harlock series.) The group reportedly stole a destroyer or two and perhaps have other supply ships that support their efforts. Rumors of a sumbarine have been heard but never confirmed.

There base of operation is not known.

Lexington and Saratoga have the deck break after the D turret, and Connie has the deck break before - as per the New Mexicos I based her on.
