as she is on the bottom of Scapa to my Knowlage it dosnt realy matter but it was just somthing I thought of

To do it correctly, you'd use the original design (the 1912 version) then use 1930 dates for those things that were replaced (ie, engines, some guns, etc).

And she was coal-fired originally

ya I had that pointed out to me just now on AIM LOL it was just a fast and dirty conversion to give a general idea what she might have looked like.

I can redo her right, but it was more of a whim as I see no way I would have her even if she hadn't sunk at Scapa. Odds are she would have bene british if left in service. Not to say I wouldnt love to have her (hell id love to have any cap ship atm) but im just trying to think realisticly. My best odds would have bene one or two Viribus Unitis (but the Italians sank the 2 I understand AH gave to Yugoslavia)

The South African Hertogs are based on Defflinger and they are still afloat (thought not for long  ). They were on sale pre-war, and if they survive might be put on the auction block again.

I have been thinking about something similar, what if Yugoslavia had been able to keep the Viribus Unitis

I kept the same stats as the original and didn't push the design like I could have. You could probably paste a bunch of AA guns onto her and increase her armour substantially. I'm generally fine with her speed, myself...

Like I said mine was just fast and dirty (I made ALOT of mistakes)

I dont think having the Viribus Unitis realy would have matterd all that much OTL but id like to have it to mess around with refiting ^.^ (same reason im messing with Derfflinger entertainment value)

The torpedoes would probably be removed.

Perhaps not but it would make for an interesting story about the mid-30s upgrade and its attempt to reach Malta

No doubt the Australians are up to no good. Probably trying to make sure that none of the Hertogs will survive the war. :)

Check that stability number again - 1.00 is a bad stability to go for (I think 1.00 stability is actually verbotten in the Gentleman's Rules). My personal rule is that it must never dip below 1.10 for a capital ship or 1.05 for a lighter vessel. That also brings down your recoil effect. Still, it damages your steadiness and seaboat ratings, but at least the ship won't flip over the moment she ships a bit of water to one side. ;)

i personaly dont generaly go under a 1.10 but on this ship i decided to make an exception for historical reality purposes (come on one torp sunk her)

it actualy has no effect on her seaboat rating, damn flush deckers LOL

That was Szent Istvan that was sunk by torpedoes - Viribus Unitis was sunk by a limpet mine, because her crew abandoned ship rather than try to save her.
