For the record, Canada's LON representative is actually the Janitor from the nearest embassy...

General Orbay along with a small force dedicated to the LON peace keeping force can be dispatched imediately to the region.

General Salih Omurtak will take over General Orbays responcibility's at home.

OOC: given the forces offers so far it looks like at least a divison strength LON force will be set up.

General Kazim Orbay
1) Belgian units: 2 infantry battalions, 1 cavalry regiment
2) German units: 1 infantry regiment, 1 reconnaissance battalion
3) Bulgarian units: 2 infantry battalion + a supply battalion
4) Turkish Units: 1 Infantry regiment, 4th and 6th Armoured car company's (40 AC)

OOC: Hm. Now we have a commander, troops, what are we missing? A rendevouz point! How are these troops going to get to Lithuania, for the Germans it's fairly easy to just cross the Lithuanian-East Prussian border, I suppose the others could come by sea routes and link up in Koenigsberg, before moving across Lithuania to the the insurrectionist area.

The shortest route for Turkish forces would be through the Ukraine and Belarus.

True, pretty much each contingent, German, Belgian, Turkish and Bulgaria (and I believe a RCMP detachment was offered), will have to take their own best route to Lithuania. Could take a few days for everyone to get where they're going to.

Map of the situation in Lithuania. With pertinent details added in Legend.

Red areas are municipalites that have seen ethnic Polish uprisings: Ukmerge, Svencionys, Lazdijai, Drushininkai and Varena

Dark red areas are municipalites that have been declared formally part of the Wilno Republic, as of Marshal Letowska's proclaimation of independence: Sirvintos, Vilnius, Elektrenai, Trakai, Salcininkai

Orange areas are territory currently controlled or policed by the Wilno Republic Armed Forces.

OOC: Thanks, Brockpaine for helping me post this.

Is it any wonder why the Russians got involved in the conflict with what ammounts to a Polish salient protruding deep into Lithuanian territory along Belarussian territory.

It was, since I seem to recall discussions of having LON take up Law & Order type duties since only LON forces would be armed or somesuch.

That is correct and why Persia originally offered an Gendarmes Brigade

Nordmark offers an Infantry or Armoured Battalion, as we are closest (other than Germany), and have the forces to spare at the moment.
Nordmark also offers to provide some of the logistics train, and provide security for the transition of the International force across the Baltic.

Looking at that picture, looks to me that that the Canadian LON representative is a semi retired janitor. :)

IC: Best of luck to General Orbay with this upcoming mission of great importance.

Belgium and the UKN can provide transport for the Belgian force, but appreciates the Nordmark security force.

*Note from Bulgarian govt/Army to Russia, Romania, and Lithuania*

Bulgaria requests permission to move three battalions of troops via train to join the LON force gathering in Lithuania. The current projected route is traveling north via Romanian railways to Odessa, then north to Kiev and then Minsk, then to Vilnius/Wilno.

The Army has suggested the following assurances be made to the governments the force will transit through:
- The traincars will be kept closed (no Bulgarian soldiers will be permitted to disembark)
- Only Bulgarian military police assigned to the train will be armed (arms and equipment will be shipped in separate trains).
- Romania, Russia and Lithuania are invited to place observers aboard the trains to verify that the previous assurances are being carried out.

Bulgaria wishes that the transit be made as smoothly and swiftly as possible.

Manifest:
- 4 trains with coaches/sleepers; ~400 men aboard each.
- 5 trains with ammo, arms, food, supplies and heavy equipment (trucks, draft animals and forage)

OOC : Shouldn't be a problem. Belgium only joined the UKN last November. Ironically, the common link is the House of Orange. However, there is a good chance they would be sending Walloon units anyhow, as that area wants to demonstrate it's importance to all the Dutch-speakers.

In the historic league, Sweden and the Netherlands provided troops, here in Wesworld the Kongo & Netherlands helped in Bolivia, and now Belgium in Lithuania- so all 3 Kingdoms have pitched in to help.

Lithuanian Governmental response to Bulgarian Contingent Transit notice:

Bulgarian transit plans for Bulgarian Army contingent for LoN Task Force are approved, at least as far as movement through Lithuanian territory is concerned.

Bulgarian contingent will be met at Lithuanian-Russian border (via the Vilnius-Minsk Railway) by detachments of guides, liaison/observer staffs and military police, to ensure smooth, safe passage of Bulgarian troops across Lithuanian territory.

The Bulgarian contingent is offically authorized for passage to the LoN Task Force secondary depot, outside Vilnius.

The Romanian government wishes to assure the Bulgarian government that the offer of free passage through Romanian territory still stands. Regarding the new level of trust the Romanian government feels in its Bulgarian neighbour, the Romanian government does not feel the need to place the observers on the special trains. We do ask the Bulgarian government which route they wish to take, so we can close the route down to ordinary traffic, in order to speed its progress. Should Turkey wish to use Romanian territory, or Romanian ports to offload the force it is sending, then Romania offers the same level of trust to it as well. If Greece wishes to send a force north, the same courtesy will be offered to in return.

Also, Romania ups its offer to the league of its non-intreventionist aid by sending 10000 blankets, and a fully staffed medical team as well as enough medical supplies, for an entire division. We ask that one of the Bulgarian trains heading north could stop in Bucharest so we can add 10 cars too it. If the Bulgarian government is in agreement with this we ask the Russian and Lithuanian government if they would be in agreement with Romanian medical staff proceeding north to aid the League Task Force. Should either government wish to place observers on the Romanian cars to ensure they are only unarmed medical staff, we agree with that as well.

Also, the offer of all the oil the Task Force needs is still there, and for the first 6 months the costs will be paid for by the Romanian government.

Romanian Rail Map? Oltenita-Bucharest-Iasi and into Russia (Ukraine). The Bulgarian Army notes that it can have the trains ready to cross the border at sunset on the evening of the 22nd, to make as much of the trip through Romania as possible during the night, in order to minimize the effect on the Romanian railway schedule.

Bulgaria thanks Romania and Russia for their cooperation.
