That ME-109 lookalike (GW 105) looks interesting.

4

Its based on a Me-109 derivative, the AVIA S-199 but with a HS 12Z-17 engine

I'll focus on the pictures;

First off, its good to see them. Pictures do look good and convey what you are trying to simulate.

Type 100 looks a bit strange. I think raising the cockpit will help (or lowering the engine so its level with the fuselage bottom) Not sure on the tail skid. Its probably best to go for an actual wheel by this time.

Type 101 looks pretty good. Only think I'll question is the underfuselage radiator + radial engine?

Type 102 looks good. A light bomber similar to the Blenheim or SB-2?

Type 105 looks most modern and probably has the most export potential given the Hispano-Suiza engine.

Thank you for your comments.

The tail skid and radiator was leftovers from other versions. Profiles have been revised.

The 102 I imagined as a heavy attack/torpedo bomber á la
Invader.

For cost what production run should be used? 500?

I would suggest using 200. That's about the average number of aircraft sold per type at the moment.

If you do the Type 105 in Mexican Air Force colors, Mexico would be interested in purchasing a few. ;)

1500 hp inline engines are pretty rare historically at this point in time (even if you use 1940 vs 1935). Most WW inlines are 1200 hp or less still (Germany has early DB-601s and Jumo-211s, the first Merlins are available in Great Britain, etc). The weight on the 105Mx suggests a somewhat larger plane than a Bf-109G, as well.

On a side note, what nation would Gothia Works Aircraft Division originate from. Coldmere perhaps?

Well the DB-601E in the Me-109F is 1350 Hp, So a 1300Hp engine is acceptable? The F topspeed was 624 km/h so i assume that i can keep the 620 km/h topspeed wit a 1300 Hp engine ( the S-199 seemed to have had a lot of drag)

I am going to sound really stupid but, is there a country called that or do you mean the Nordmark city? And if it is the city will heor she allow a private firm?

1350 would be OK. The speed is not a problem really.

Coldmere is a city-state like Monaco I suppose.

If they have a Casino and some hot princesses, it would be a great place fort Gothia

Casino: Check.
Princesses: Unknown. Must send in agents to investigate.

Not sure if it was 1BigRich or Rick Robinson that started Coldmere as a Monacco style country.

Hmmm, a Japanese built floating casino, right? Just needs women fo high social standing?

Definately too early in history for cosplay cafes and the like, so I've no idea what Walter had in mind for the Casino Flattop.

Not that that has anything to do with Gotha...though it might be useful as a place to show off new models to prospective buyers.

The casino is called "The Ice Pit" and sometimes visited by Infamous Oonishi "Crash" Manzo - even though we haven´t heard much of the man lately.

There also is a nice little sub to cruise with and have a nice dinner.

IIRC, Coldmere is an offspring of Walters weird (sorry) brain. It appears in AWNR reports first.

I'd love to take credit, but Coldmere wasn't my invention. It was someone else who was there in the very beginning who came up with Coldmere. I can't remember who it was, but it wasn't 1BigRich or Rick Robinson... maybe I can locate the person in question in my ancient archive. If I remember correctly, Coldmere also had an aging destroyer back in the early 1920s.

...
Found something in one of the old files on the board:

Coldmere
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coldmere (Steves country) is the Monaco of the North, a small kingdom, surounded by norwegian/nordmakian territory. A small place for the high society (you should be able to find some stuff in the old news). Its largest warships is an outdated DD, IIRC, serving as royal yacht or something.
The most modern unit over there will be the submarine that is currently build in the SAE for Coldmere. It will be used for cruises and thus will get a saloon with much glass, searchlights to see the underwater world outside etc.

To sum it up: One fine day back on the warships1 design board where all this started Steve came up with the idea of joining the SIM, IIRC. But at that time, we had enough players/signatories and thus he choosed to stay and watch the progress. Coldmere was some kind of running gag at first but we got used to it. So he´s officially rated as a participant in the SIM but not as a signatory of the treaty (something similar was planed for India until that player choosed to become a signatory).

Makes you wonder... is that bad news or very bad news? :)
