Help needed!

Folks -

I need a detailled map of South America including village/city names, rivers, mountains etc. that I can work with offline. So far I found nothing really useful in the Net...

Your help is appreciated!

Thanks,

HoOmAn

most good maps do seem to require an internet connection, though if you can spend the money there is always the option of buying a map.

This one here seems to be good, and reasonably priced.

That´s pretty good. Are there such maps for Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay too?

The site, http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/americas.html, has maps for various South American countries. Not all are older, and levels of detail vary. But there are maps for Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, etc there.

It was the comma, it was inside the URL link the board software put in. Try it now.

I've gone and made some scans for you from my 1958 Encyclopedia Britannica. Most of the data in it tends to be from 1952 or 1955.

On the one hand it's 20+ years beyond the timeframe. On the other hand we keep saying South America is a couple decades ahead in Wesworld.

Anyhow, they aren't "wow", but they are 200dps and can be zoomed. The narrow red lines are railroads. Convieniantly, Grand Urguay is one of the more developed parts. While I see a rail bridge on the Urugruai river in Santa Catarina province would be a logical SAE target as ameans to sever Brazil's supply chain.

The links are to my photobucket album, as they are large and I doubt everyone wants to load giant maps of South America.

Hope this helps,
Kirk

MapQuest at www.mapquest.com is also useful for maps, so is wikipedia, which has some maps of countries and cities, depending on where you search.
