Jan 1- 1935 Cleito
The Atlantean government expressed its regret that the SAE and Argentina were officially at war following the South African Kings speach. "Our only hope is that both sides can see just how foolish this endeavour is given the unfortunate circumstances that have led to this war" Stated the prime Minister.

Jan 2- 1935 Cleito
The government of Atlantis offers to host peace talks in Praia/Cape Verde involving both Argentina and the SAE, both have grudgingly agreed. The parties will need several days to gather their diplomats and experts and bring them to Praia. An airship tender along with the battleship Eumelos has been dispatched to the Cape verde islands to recieve the South African delegation aboard their airship.

Jan 5- 1935 Praia
Atlantean foreign minister Hector Dominia commented on the sentence involving the South African skipper: "The sentence against the SAE skipper is most unfortunate and I'm sure will only serve to anger both party's further, we call on people from both countrys to remain calm. We know that everybody here desires peace and we will work to our utmost to ensure that a non-violent resolution can be sought to end this crisis.

Jan 8- 1935 Praia
Atlantean foreign minister Hector Dominia reports that his people were only just able to keep the Argentines from leaving the table. "Given the events of late, tentions are quite high and every effort is being made to ease these tentions.

Jan 11- 1935 Praia
The SAE delegates in Praia openly question why Argentina would have launched an offensive in Paraguay while supposedly negotiating in good faith in the neutral location. Their actions in Paraguay are viewed as a mirror of their true intentions and chances for a peaceful solution are rated small in the face of this aggression.
Veiws expressed on both sides seems to indicate little chance of reconsiliation.

Jan 14- 1935 Praia
Atlantean foreign minister Hector Dominia address's the failed peace talks: "It is with deep sadness that we must state that dispite our best efforts a deep devide between the Argentinian and South African possitions has prevented a successfull negotiated peace from taking shape."

Jan 19- 1935 Cleito
News reguarding the Brazilian entry into the Argentina/South Africa conflict has sparked some lively debates in the Atlantean parlament. One polititian was quoted as saying, "how can we continue to adhere to the Cleito treaty when many others do not, and now we have a full fledged war developing at our back door!" The Atlantean prime minister stated that "it was unfortunate that Brazil had found a way to enter yet another conflict and one that has the potential to draw others in as well..."

Jan 20- 1935 Cleito
Atlantean foreign minister Hector Dominia has departed for Valparaiso, Chile in an effort to ease tentions reguarding the current war in South America.

Jan 22- 1935 Valparaiso
After meeting with his Chilean counterpart, Hector Dominia epressed "positive signs that Chile at this point does not intend to get dirrectly involved in the conflict" though when pressed on the issue he could not guarantee that hostilities would not escalate, only that "Atlantis intends to remain a Nuetral party in reguards to this conflict and that at any time the waring party's could seek Atlantean help in negotiating a peace settlement".

Jan 23- 1935 Constantinople
The Byzantean government has requesitioned the help of the Atlantean engineer corps in reguards to building coastal fortifications at either end of the sea of Marmara in an effort to strengthen defencive capability's of the nation given the lack of a sizeable navy. Several concrete instalations will be built at the northern end of the Bosporus and along the Dardanelles region.

They have also recieved some lucrative repair and rebuild contracts from the Russians who are seeking to upgrade their black sea fleet. The contracts are expected to spark the Byzantean shipbuilding industry which is also hoping to garner contracts from other neighbouring nations.

Jan 29- 1935 Eridanus
Final testing of the AT-35 medium tank prototype have completed. The design will now undergo a test production run to see if any final changes to the design can be made to streamline production. Testing at the armour test facility at Eridanus will now focus on the AT-34 design as well as various sub projects related to existing tank designs.

Walter Christie has also submited design preposals in responce to Atlantean requirements for a new Armoured car design, along with other unusual designs. Napier Hall, General Ordinance and Pullinger have also submited designs for the armoured car and armoured half track design requests.

Jan 30th

Three Atlantean aircraft manufactuers have submited designs to the Australian Air Ministry's request for a single engined fighter. Spartan, Accrisius and Ripon-Bloch have all stated their intent to send aircraft for evaluation in May.

Feb 6th

The Atlantean air ministry has annouced a competition will be held for a replacement for the TBN Seadart. Spartan, Accrisius, Ripon-Bloch and the Atlantean Naval Aircraft Factory have all submited designs to be evaluated this year.

Feb 7th

Units of the Fuerza Aerea Argentina and Commando de Aviacion Naval Argentina raided the large harbour of Buenos Aires on the 6th. Reports indicate that many South African ships have been either sunk or damaged to varying degrees. It would appear to be a devastating blow for South African forces and impressive victory for the Argentinians and there are fears that the war may escalate as a result.

Feb 10th

Buenos Aires was again attacked by Argentinian aircraft yesterday. This time however the South Africans were quick to disrupt the attack and only a handfull of aircraft managed to attack the naval base with little effect.

February 15th, Cleito
The Ambassador for the Kingdom of the Netherlands, acting on behalf of the United Kingdoms of the Netherlands, submited a document, signed by the Queen. The document formalizes the withdrawal of the United Kingdoms of the Netherlands from the Cleito treaty.

This effectively removes the last remaining AANM ally from the CT, thus straining relations considerably.

Mar. 12

The Atlantean foreign minister announced today that he was hosting a delegation from Argentina in the coming weeks, stating that further efforts to end the conflict would be sought.

Mar. 19th

Colombia has purchased a significant number of Spartan Vanquish bombers from a batch initially earmarked for Argentinian purchase. The Argentinian order has been suspended as a result of the ongoing war in South America for fears that it would violate the non-agression pact between South Africa and Argentina.

The war in South America has also delayed the transfer of I-100 aircraft from Argentina to both Atlantis and Colombia given the need for such aircraft in the Fuerza Aerea Argentina.

Mar. 31st
Yugoslavia today finalised a deal that would see various types of military vehicles being purchased from Atlantis, some via Mexican factory's.

Are these various aircraft solicitations open to foreign bids?

The requirements have been passed to local manufactuers only. If no suitable designs are presented foriegn designs would be looked at following a public submition of the requirements, so unfortunately not at this time.

OOC: given the designs hood and I have cooked up (well James aka Ugly aircraft inc as per my specs) I've seen some rather interesting designs!

Heh I apparently missed Italy's withdrawal, my bad.
However, it hardly should be a shock at this stage.

I thought it was a given, they've never had any love for the treaty. It certainly makes it harder to stick with the treaty when the more sane (at least in Atlantean eyes) AANM member leaves the CT, but yes as you say not surprising with Dutch concerns in the Pacific.

Italy didn't exactly withdraw. The new government felt that after the failure of talks in San Francisco and the attitude of certain nations, when coupled with other nation's withdrawals, it was no longer in Italy's interest to follow the treaty to the letter and so various parts are being ignored so that Italy can build the ships that she needs.
