Foreign Minister Mital's response:

"I apologize for my outburst that ended yesterday proceedings. Will try to refrain from using hypotetical situations in the future, the common good being our main concern."

"We found the Russian proposals interesting and we will be willing to accept a mix of the Czech and Russian could work. We could accept a transfer of the cities in our list in exchange of duty free shipping of Czech goods out of Gdansk. We also promise the region will be demilitarized and if the Czechs so desire a small League's police presence could be acceptable to us also."

Response to the Czech proposal:

"We found a transfer of the territory in question for a five year trial period followed by a referendum as acceptable. We also promise the region will be demilitarized and we will accept the presence of a League's police force during the period to ensure we comply with our promise of demilitarization of the region."

"At the same time we extend our hand in friendship to the Czechoslovakian nation and offer a treaty of nonaggression to finish all our disputes once and for all."

Polish response: "We could accept joint administration of the area till the time a referendum is conducted. We also are happy the Czechoslovakian government accepts our offer of a nonaggression treaty and they can rest assured peace is paramount for Poland."

As is the German Reich. The last thing we need, or want, is for two of our neighbors to go to war with one another.

March 6, 1935 - Grafenwohr

A new vehicle has shown up at the Heer's panzer testing ground: a version of the Panzer II, with the turret removed, the engine moved to the middle of the vehicle and a large superstructure added at the rear of the vehicle to mount the standard 10.5 cm howitzer. The vehicle, a private venture, is expected to undergo testing to determine whether the Heer desires such a vehicle.

March 17, 1935 - Grafenwohr

The 1935 panzer testing has concluded, with the Daimler-Benz and Krupp designs seemingly in the lead. The Daimler-Benz design, with it's torsion-bar suspension, is more expensive, but gives better off-road performance. The Krupp design, with leaf springs, is cheaper and easier to produce in quantity, but doesn't have as good performance off-road. Which the Heer will choose remains to be seen.

March 28, 1935 - Berlin

The Heer has announced the winners in the panzer competition: the Daimler-Benz chassis and the Krupp turret. Contracts are being finalized with both companies, and production is expected to begin with a series of troop-test vehicles (made from mild steel, rather than armor plate) to be delivered later this year. 3 different vehicles are being procured: the Panzer III, armed with a turreted 50mm/L60 cannon, for use against other panzers, and 3 machineguns; the Panzer IV, armed with a turreted 75mm/L24 howitzer, for use against strongpoints and infantry, and 3 machineguns; and the Sturmgeshutz III, armed with the 75mm/L24 howitzer in a mount at the front of the chassis and 1 machinegun. The Panzers are expected to be issued to the Panzer regimenets, while the Sturmgeshutz would be issued to the motorized regiments.

[Yes, the vehicle that showed up at Grafenwohr on March 6 is a early Wespe, but no, it won't be being adopted at this time (too small for the recoil, not enough ammunition on board, some question on whether such a vehicle is needed). But the exercise is useful in showing what can be done on a slightly modified Panzer II chassis, and a somewhat more modified version (extended length chassis, extra road wheel on each side, revised superstructure, muzzle brake on the howitzer) will get a contract in the future.]

January 1, 1935 - Berlin

The declaration of war from Argentina against the South African Empire was greeted with sadness in Berlin today, with the government releasing a statement.

"The German government is saddened that the peoples of Argentina and the South African Empire find themselves at war today. We hope that the leaders of both countries manage to quickly step back from the abyss that confronts them and return to the peaceful coexistence that they enjoyed before. In the event that war cannot be averted, however, we plead with both parties to respect the rights of neutrals and non-combatants, so that others may not be drawn into a war not of their making or desiring."
