Yugoslavia News and Events Q1/35

January 8th 1935- Major General Milenk Antic(1) signed the order further expanding the fighter orders to both Poland and Mexico for another 40 fighters each (2). He knew his force was expanding at an incredible rate and the quality of his pilots was dubious at best due to the rapid expansion.

But worst was that he expected the growth to continue during the year, knowing full well he better spend the budget given to him before the times change for the worse again.

(1) Commander of the Air Corps.

(2) they will be expected to arrive around September.

January 19th 1935- Major General Antic smiled while observing his "guests" waiting on the docks waiting for their gear, shaking from at it seemed to some of them as extreme cold and all of them swearing in their accented Iberian.(1)

Antic wasn't a fool. He knew the rapid grown of the Air Corps was creating a dearth need for trained pilots and he gladly accepted the offer by Mexico to send pilots to help in the training of his new pilots. Now 60 Mexicans were standing by a pier in the Balkans waiting to start working and Antic can't be more happy that they were here.

(1) accented to the translator standing by Antic, trained in pure Iberian.

"Is one thing to try to take advantage form Italy's situation privately, to do what he did is very provocative. I have to agree privately with him, but sadly his comments cost him his job. I want you to tell the Foreign Minister to recall the fool. A damn shame but his mouth got him in trouble." said the Yugoslavian King.

"It will be done your highness," responded Macek, "true that is a shame that the man will pay for something that we privately agree with him."

March 29th 1935- Executives from Zastava (1) announced today they are offering their products (2) at a discount to the nations currently involved in the South American War. (3)While government officials distanced themselves from that statement it was announced they will not block any sale made to nations overseas. Zastava executives also stated they are willing to sell to nations in the Middle East and Asia.

(1) Yugoslavian main weapons combine.

(2) Copies of Mauser rifles and BAR's in 7.92mm x 57.

(3) I doubt that both the Argentine and Brazilian infrastructures could support the current expansion in regard to weapons and supplies. They should be twice their original size by the end of March and maybe larger by the end of the South African fall. (April to June). Of course also Vickers and other nations' arm companies could be busy trying to sell their products.
