Australian News Q4/1934

October 21st

The Great MacRobertson's Air Race starts! Melbourne has been a buzz since this morning waiting for news of the race. Finally at 4:30 PM today, the news arrived that the racers are off!

Sir Rupert Murdoch has been giving rides to and from one of his Mail Carriers anchored outside Melbourne. And earlier today a most unusual site graced the harbor front. The Japanese Floating Deck Casino, entered Melbourne. Already beats have been placed, with Kingfords-Smith's Atair leading among Aussies. However the South African FD-2 and the Italian SM 79 are the favorites to win it all.

Melbourne is in uproar after the latest dispatches from Singapore. News that most of the favorites are out and that even Kingsford-Smith was forced to quit, have cause quite a few disturbances. There are even rumors that some of the 'Special' rooms on the Floating Casino have been used.

Meanwhile news from Darwin are not good. A storm has struck the area and telegraph lines have been destroyed. It is hoped that the storm does no harm to the racers.

News from Darwin! According to the latest news one of the British DeHavilland Racers has taken the lead. More to follow...

OOC I have not forgotten the race, but with the move and school and all that fun stuff, well I have not had much time. Do not fear the next instalment is coming soon, well as soon as I get it done.
