(BRZ) Cruisers: For Sale / Cruisers: Wanted

The Marina Imperial has declared the old protected cruiser Barroso surplus to requirements, and she is to be sold for scrapping (or whatever other use the high bidder desires, we're not picky). Minimum bid 420 tons, highest bidder takes all, cash and carry.

------------

The Marina Imperial has issued an urgent requirement for the construction of four cruisers of the "light" type. Displacement is not to exceed 10,000 tons standard, armament available includes 6", 120mm, 3", 35mm and 13.7mm guns, 21" torpedoes, speed requirement is a minimum of 31.5 knots.

Iberia need not apply...

Ooh Burn!

Chile might have a design, but that would have to be cleared through Atlantean Shipyards, as they own the design (similar to Chile's "Light" Cruisers).

Or would the Brazilians like to try to see if Oyama Yards can whip something up?

(as for the hull a Ms E. might inquire about them.)

Australia offers 3 designs, pics will follow.

#1 is a version of my current heavy CL, replaces 4" with 4.7", AC facilities removed.

#2 is a smaller cheaper version with twin 6", less range, fits in Type 2 Dock

#3 is a radical development with twins & heavier armor. the two superfring 4.7" mounts amidship are staggered to permit cross deck firing.

The German shipyards look at the Brazillian requirements, then at their order backlog and consider the future, then shake their heads. No submissions will be coming from Germany, the Brazillian requirements would require sourcing all the armament from outside Germany, and there may not be enough open slips in Germany in the near future to bid.

I sense that there is a possibility of a war between Brazil and Iberia. :)
No doubt Brazil doesn't want Iberia to know all the details of the ship or depend on Iberia for parts and ammo.

Denmark, Italy, Netherlands = all OK. I was thinking that Brazilian-Iberian relations might have cooled somewhat, what with Iberia's "meddling" in Peru. ;) However if that goes against what's established for Brazil then...

Fyrwulf discussed quite a few things reguarding relations with its neighbours, none of which really came to fruitation.

Brazil has a very unique possition reguarding relations, an alliance with one outside regional power sours relations with the others most noteably the SAE.

I would think that Brazil would not take kindly to Iberia/Peru gaining spoils in Bolivia. The same seems to display itself in Argentina. Also Argentina and Brazil would likely be consintrating on stabilizing Paraguay while all this is going on preventing them from interveining themselves.

So basically Brazil gets to choose which way the continent is going to some extent.

Of course Fryfulf was also very imperialist/nationalistic on Brazil, looking to gain a Pacific coast. Not caring for the SAE, but then that was around the time were started putting the history of South America in order, so views and perceptions were being altered.

A Brazilian Pacific Coast? Hmm...
<points at user title>

Brazilian-Iberian relations are probably still just ticked over on the 'good' side of 'neutral', although likely cooling as of late over "Imperialist Iberian meddling in their former colonies that they covet the return of" (quote credited to an anonomyous Brazilian political extremist). ;)

All good designs and thanks, there will be a tough time choosing. The Filipino design is intriguing as it offers a "quanity has a quality all its own" argument...

Oyama Yards isn't able to design a satifactory light cruiser design that rivals the Atlantean design for Chile. Do the Brazilians still want the "increadible" ranges of there recent new designs?

Officially : The Netherlands submits no bids.
Unofficially : Until Brazilian-Iberian and Brazilian-SAE relations are clearly neutral, the Netherlands will not be interested in military sales, but is perfectly happy to conduct normal trade and relations.

" Iberia Rules Ok "

Iberia may feel free to submit designs; they may become political footballs, but then again, maybe not.
Depends on what concessions some nations are willing to make...

A range of 8,000/15 is the minimum, so as long as it can meet that it'll be OK.

Brazilian-Iberian relations are neutral, and may, possibly, improve.

Brazilian-SAE relations? I wouldn't hold your breath...

(Much thanks to Fyrwulf for clearing up Brazil's foreign relations.)
