Don't forget the final 1199t from Siam...
Inquiring minds wish to know if the three Pope class ACRs are being modified or not, and if so, what resources are going into them.
To what final design? Your encyclopedia entry currently shows only the original design.
And at what cost? In Q3 the Italian position was that it cost nothing.
Post in encyclopaedia edited.
My position is still the same.
Still the original design?!? Those fiendish Italians!! It is now obvious that they are responsible for Iberia falling to the Dark Side.
... of course the Dark Side is much cooler than the Light Side.

Whoops. Too late with my remark. ^_^;;

Which position is that and did we all agree to it?
The Italian position is that the refit (to remove X turret, most/all of the secondary battery, etc) is free, since nothing is being added to the ship. No, we had not all agreed to this, there was a VERY long discussion in the Q3/1933 Italian turn thread.
Thats what I thought. Even us moderators have to go with the majority in reguards to issues such as this, otherwise we'd have many different "positions" on many different issues.
From what I understood the refit should have costed something as per the majority's opinions.
So are we to take it then that we no longer have rules for rebuilding ships? I could use the free re-constructions.
So were the weapons "removed" or "never installed"? Since she is listed as complete and the weapons referred to as removed, therefore the ship needs something to make the ship fuctional rather than have large holes in the deck plate and wood planking....also to balance her out with all that weight removed from her builders specifications.
I still think the best idea is to complete them as is, and just take the political fallout.
No we have the rules for rebuilding. There was some discussion over how relevant they were for a case primarily involving removal.
I had advanced the argument that removing items was more akin to scrapping and a minor charge for plating over was to be expected. I.e. a nominal 5%.This position failed to account for stability issues.
There was a long discussion, the problems with stability just subtraction would cause, and large loopholes were pointed out, various means of trimming the ships were discussed, etc etc.
Towards the end it looked like modification to the belt armor was being examined, which would be a 25% mod.
I rather thought that something like 25% to remove and 25% to re-add was the front runner, but there was never a final conclusion.
The 'original' modified version is currently used and I still say that with what has been removed from the ship, it will not get below 14,000 tons. I'm not going to bother with showing you all my calculations again.

The 25% to remove the guns was a way of dealing with the issue that the rules currently assume a refit has items going off and items going on, where in this case that would not really be the case (the items put on would be of nominal cost). I agree, there were a couple different proposals to deal with the issue, but no decision was reached.
Again. It makes no sense that there should be a cost. Nothing is being added.
As for stability issues, look at the first generation cruisers that varied from design displacement by up to 2000tons. It isn't going to be an insurmountable problem.
The rebuild costs also reflect labour, not material alone (even though everything in WW is paid in material).
Italy´s plan to rebuild these ships will result in some costs and these have to be paid for.
