In 1934?

1. Its massively heavy

2.What on earth are those engines?

3. Its fast but is as maneuverable as a supertanker.

4. How do you catapult something that weighs 35,000lbs at 150mph off a carrier?

Here is a Boeing 306 flying wing from mid 30s.

The F4U was about 14000lb max take off. This design is 35000lb MTOW. That is a difference of over 100%, i.e. "massive"

B-25s were launched from carriers. Their stall speed is significantly less than 150mph. The B-versions used were stripped of armour and armament compared to the later versions, i.e. less weight. This design is probably going to run out of deck. I don't know what the wing-loading is, but looking at the stall speed and cornering I'd guess at 70lb/sq ft which makes it hard to land, especially on a carrier.

Force = mass * acceleration
16000lbf /2.2*0.81 = 71kN
mass = 35000/2.2 = 16000kg
acceleration = 4.4m/s/s

u^2 = v^2 + 2as
start speed = final speed + 2* accel* take off run
0 = 66^2 + 2as
s = 495m take off run

Carriers aren't that long. Even with steaming into the wind at 33knts you need 300m+ of deck

Out maneuver a P-38? The -F has a turn radius of 650ft at 250knts. 650ft is less than 15,000ft by quite a margin.

Theres no problem in having a delta-winged fighter. The problems comes when you start adding weight to it in the form of engines. Try 15000lb MTOW with 1 or 2 engines and you'll probably get better results.
