Joint statement of the Republic of France and the Russian Federation
The governments of the Republic of France and the Russian Federation take note of recent events in Nordmark and in the South Atlantic.
The governments of the Republic of France and the Russian Federation inquire concerning the well-being of the Royal Family of Nordmark. No alert or mobilization of military or naval forces has been undertaken, apart from alerting of air defence forces at the Russian Federation naval bases at Parnu, Tallin, Petrograd, Murmansk, and Arkhangelsk. Picket ships and naval patrol aircraft continue normal peacetime operations.
President Kerensky has made an additional statement:
"As world knows, former tsar Nicholas II enjoys life of gentleman farmer and happy family man on several of his estates since his abdication. He has taken no part in governmental or political life of Russian Federation, except as voter in elections. I would be the last to defend institution of Monarchy, but altering such long-standing institutions must be done for well-founded reasons, and with due regard for well-being and happiness of former Royal Family."
President Millerand was heard to comment as well:
"Of course, France has been known to deal unceremoniously with Kings, and Emperors as well, but different times call for different measures, and it is my profound wish that King Gustav and his family are safe and well."
