March 26th 1933- Captain Velasco was informed that aircrafts have been detected by spotters and accordingly he ordered the antiaircraft batteries to be manned as a precaution.

"So they reached us before crossing into our waters. As long as they don't cause any problems until noon (1) they should be ok." He suspected them to be from the Mexican carrier that left Acapulco at the beginning of the month but he could be wrong and he also asked himself what they were doing so far south.

(1) approximate time the Huascar and "escorts" will cross into Peruvian waters. At that time the Chileans will break "formation" and the rest will continue to El Callao.

Morning, March 26th 1933

"Capitan! Fleet sighted!"

"Where?"

"50 miles due south."

"Perfect, launch planes."

15 minutes later 5 Nakajimas A4Ns, 5 Martin BM-2s, and a single Vought O2U, where on their way.

30 minutes later...

The Fleet was a grand sight, but there was a new one in sight as the BM-2s in a tringle formation roared overhead the fleet, but the strangest sight was the Vought. Something could be seen behind her...

A banner withe the Inscription:

Welcome to America, Greetings from the Armada de Mexico !

With that the Mexican planes turned around and headed back. Only a lone scout remained, but it too would return sometime later.

March 26th 1933- The roar and laughter of the crew of the Huascar can be hear all thru the ship and the ships near by, even Captain Velasco have a good laugh. He turned to the officer on duty and gave the order. "Tell the crews on the AA guns to stay by their guns but to stand down. And signal the Mexicans thanking them for their good wishes." But his thoughts were more on the line of "crazy Mexicans," and he smiled again.

March 28th 1933- The battleship Huascar arrived today to El Callao escorted by Iberian and Indian ships after an uneventful trip(1). The ship is the first battleship of the Peruvian Navy and has been designated as the flagship of the fleet by Admiral de La Garza.

In related news the Indian ships will stay in port in a courtesy visit for at least a week before returning to their country. They will be given the same courtesy they gave to our men when they visited India te retrieve the Huascar and is the hope of our nation that this is the beginning of a working relationship with the nation of India.

(1) why bother the general population with the little details of the trip? ;-)
