Too small for a CGH I think when compared to HMS Tiger or the Italian ships.

I'm not entirely sure what the 152mm guns are meant to achieve. I'd assume that the Swedes are mainly defensive during the cold war and not planning amphibious landings anywhere. I'd mount extra AA instead, maybe 76/62.

I'm not sure on the room for all those missiles as well compared to a Type 22 or 23.

She has about the same size as a Ticonderoga class cruiser. The missles are fit in a MK41 vls

The 15,2cm gun is usefull to have both as a ASuW weapon and for NGS. These ships are meant to primary protect the carriers and secondary as support ships for the amphibiusforces

Stephan, SS doesn't allow ships laid down later than 1950. Shes actually laid down in the mid-80s if you look on the website.

I'm not sure Sweden needs such air defense capability. I'd go for a single VLS with SM-2 missiles. Then an sextuple Seawolf launcher for short range AA.

A single 152mm gun would be sufficient methinks. Space issues crop up otherwise.

She serves many purposis:

1. ARG and Carrier excort
2. Missiletrap in the baltic
3. She should also be able to be sent as SAG centerpiece on "diplomacy" missions

She was laid down 1984

Why triple 15cm gun: It looks cool and it is nice to be able to pu 60 shells/ min in the target. I've tried to incoporate as many Falklands lessons as possible..

Why 2 VLS: It makes her more flexible and in less need of large supply ships with missiles, it is also a preparation to fit VLS SLCM later so the RB08 SLCM can be removed.

RAM? Don't belive in the system.

A combination of SM2-ESSM -57mm-30mm is a very effective and flexible system, besides can the guns be used against lots of other types of targets, and is cheaper.

Well, in OTL several European navies seem to have no problems with RAM-systems. See several German warships of the last decade for example...

The Swedish Navy seems not to use such a system in present day. Though that might stem from most of their fleet being relatively small ships and patrol craft.

Well, the Germans are using these systems on small hulls. See here . The boats have a size of about 390ts and also feature a 76mm OTO Melara, MM38 Exocet and heavy MGs (plus nuclear mines, if need be).

Both 40mm and 57mm are better AA guns than the 76mm melera system. The RAM is comparable to a 57mm gun in range and hit probability, but has a little larger warhead, the RAM wasnt operative until the mid 1990s
