On the same displacement, you can probably get a true destroyer with eight guns and 33-34 knots. This would be able to kill torpedo boats for pleasure as well as undertake other missions such as offensive raids.

actualy yes this kind of ship has merit in real world but in WW there is no nead for such a weasle.

I also wonder why she's limited to 24 knots, the PRJ IIRC isn't limited by the CT.

5

Friday, April 28th 2006, 8:12pm

Guess for possible sale to CT nations...

6

Friday, April 28th 2006, 8:15pm

If thats the case they would have to ditch the torpedo's.

7

*Looks at second design*
Which Torpedoes?

8

Friday, April 28th 2006, 10:06pm

Neither of the designs can be considered unimited. They have too many guns. Speaking of which 20 guns on a 2,000 ton ship seems alot. Will they fit in the available deck space?

9

Friday, April 28th 2006, 10:10pm

Probably. Probably no space left for other things to be placed on the deck (like funnel and superstructure).

10

Saturday, April 29th 2006, 8:51pm

Good grief, I missed that part! She does have quite a few 4.33" guns for a 2,000 ton ship. Removing the beam mounted turrets would make the HS go through the roof.

11

Saturday, April 29th 2006, 9:09pm

A well-placed shell could cause something nasty to go through the ship's 'roof'.
:-)

Ok same hull but this time the ship is a dedicated ASW and mineleyer primery a minelayer.

I like this design much better, she's got a decent punch with those 5.91" guns and an excellent AA outfit. I'd be tempted to replace the beam mounted 2.95" guns with a DP gun in the 3.5" range. She could also use a light AA armament, 20mm and 0.5's.
