*LOL*

*ROFL*

I like people having great dreams!

(sorry, couldn´t resist)

I´m not an expert on armies but please take a closer look on this:

"The Australian fleld army has 812,600man
5 corps
25 Independent light Hores Brgades (8,750 ligth tanks)
55 Artillery Brgades (43,560 X18prds 14,410 6”howitzers)
60 Transoport Brgades (900,000 truks)"

Please note: The Australian Field Army has 812.600 men but 900.000 truks. That´s 1,108 truks per man! Am I missing something or is the Australian Field Army in a severe need of drivers !?!?!?! >]

I know Australia is a large country, a small continent to be exact, with a population of 19,910,110 today (see http://www.abs.gov.au/Ausstats/ABS@.nsf/…63?OpenDocument) and maybe ~15 millions in 1920 but aren´t hundred thousands of guns, tanks, truks etc. are a little bit too much?

How do you PAY for all this stuff? How to man all this or do you have some secret drone-technology or something? You do know that what you list up there is most likely more than what was available all over Europe at the start of WW2?

Ha ha ha ha

All divisions are fully motorised? The best, and biggest army in WWII i.e. the Russians were not fully motorised. The infantry got trucks only in 1943-44.

Australia is a bit ahead of times, They seem to have more tanks than the rest of the world put together.

Speaking of tanks, could you give me some stats please? And possibly a drawing? Sometime this week i hope to do a piece on the new Italian tracked vehicle. Armament is 1 2pdr gun+1 machine gun.

sorry did i say 900,000 truks

I was just testing to see if any one paying atentshon well in the ALT time line AUstralia was set up in 1779 in stead of 1788 when one of cooks man found gold juting out of the ground. and old cook told there lordships well the first thing you have the first fleet makeing land fall in 1779 not 1788 and the population is more like 25 million as to the gold rush starting form 1779 on woulds in this time line . it all so helps enland form that time on .
all so Australia just felded over 3.5 million man in WW1 .

Häh?

Hey, but this is 1920, not WW1. Sorry to tell you, the war is long gone. Looks like your newspaper (and gouvernement?) missed this little piece of information. I can hardly believe your politicians will pay for 3,5 millions or even more men during peacetimes....

And a population of 25 millions? Glad we finally hear of this _minor_ detail.

Actually, 17inc mentioned the increased population previously some time ago.

While I appreciate the detailed description of the Australian Army, it's not what I would have expected. Since there's a parallel with the UK (and probably some strategic influences), I'd have expected an emphasis on a powerful navy as the main line of defence, with a small, professional army acting as a land-based defense force. A combination of good highways and railways, and some degree of motorization, would allow a force of 50,000 to 100,000 troops to contain and defeat anybody who managed an amphibious landing on Australian territory.

17inc: the location of Cook's man's gold strike might influence the distribution of your population significantly. Though many gold seekers would end up moving on to other opportunities, enough would stay to build up some good-sized communities. That in turn might influence the location of your defensive facilities (assuming you haven't already worked this out yourself). Would the first discovery have been made in the Ballarat area? It's the oldest gold camp that comes to mind for me...

hmmm

I have to agree with the majority here. First of all NO army in 1921 was ever fully motorized, that didn't happen till half way through WW2. Second, tanks and armored cars were not very common in army's till just before the war when they were feverishly being developed by some country's. Very few tanks existed in the 20's.

well

I stand corrected on the tanks thing....over 3000 French FT-17's were produced by the end of WW1, but then again France was a major land power.
