Editorial
We note and applaud this development in relations between Nordmarkian Empire and Republic of Poland. This nonaggression pact further strengthens trends towards peaceful relations in Central and Eastern Europe.

It is evident as well that government of Nordmark wishes to continue developing peaceful relations with neighboring countries. We encourage government of President Chernov to pursue His Majesty's desire expressed for a similar agreement with other Baltic powers.

March 1st
Trondheim

The Battlecruiser Gota Lejon has sailed from harbour to Karlskrona where she will be thoroughly rebuilt to suit her for further service in the Navy. While her speed is not to be increased, making calling her a 'Battlecruiser' somewhat strange, the admiralty have stated that she is still fast, and a powerful ship!!

March 15th
Karlskrona

With the arrival of the Gota Lejon, the dockyard has grown busy as her berth is prepared for the start of works next month. It has been good for the people of Karlskrona to see one of our Nations glorious capital ships, for so long they have only seen the old Oscar II, glorious lead ship of the Baltic fleet, but very much due the scrap mans torch.

March 17th
Trondheim

The Cruiser Minelayer (CML) Ve has arrived and is being redied for her journey to join the South Atlantic fleet in the Falklands. Her addition to the fleet is being hailed as a major step forward, and a reuse of a ship that for so long has sat in Reserve.

I'd really, really doubt that he would sail with an escort. This isn't wartime. Sending warships costs money and ensures that they aren't where they are needed.

10

Sunday, February 26th 2006, 11:28pm

"where they're needed" in peacetime? Where's that? Since there's no war, they can be sent where desired, there's no need to keep them in Karlskrona ready to sail to head off a German sortie, for instance...

Routine patrol, maintenance, training. You don't run ships all the time. Its expensive.

12

Monday, February 27th 2006, 12:19am

An escort mission could easily substitute for routine patrol, and training could certainly be conducted as well. Not to mention that one of the duties of a fleet in peace-time is showing the flag, which an escort mission like this would qualify as.

Given the past experiences with the Nordish Royals it dosn't seem odd to me. Now if they send DD's I might get worried!

14

Monday, February 27th 2006, 12:58am

Heh, well, there were the DDs of the 1st Destroyer Flotilla.... Just berth them WELL out in the harbor, and don't let any non-Filipinos near them!

15

Monday, February 27th 2006, 1:29am

Heh, I think Philippinos will be banned from the oceans of the world soon with the reputation they are geting in wesworld!

I think the Nords simply want to put on a show for the Atlanteans. Its a chance for both navy's to review each others naval assets.

16

Monday, February 27th 2006, 1:35am

Most likely that's the idea, yes. I won't be surprised if some of those units continue their cruise south towards the Falklands, considering that the Argentines and the Brazilians are buying new ships. A reminder might be in order, after all...

17

Monday, February 27th 2006, 1:37am

That was another thought of mine. They could also be engaging in exercises with the SAE.

Monday, February 27th 2006, 8:47am

I forgot to mention that the Cruiser Minelayer has also sailed with the ships, but she will refuel in Celito then sail on to the Falklands. This move allows the ships on escort duty to stretch their legs. The DD's are going along as escorts for the other ships. These ships are not of the exploding turret/mount type of 1918/20, so there are no worries on that score. Also the King is an ex-Navy man and thus likes to see his ships sailing alongside his Yacht.

Falklands or South Georgia?

Does Nordmark own the Falklands or just South Georgia and a few attendant Islands?
