Submarine Eritrea Laid down 1934

She is an evolution over the previous Ettore Fieramosca vessel with a small watertight hangar forward of the bridge. On this larger vessel a small catapult is mounted facing towards the bow. This vessel will be the first entirely built and crewed by Ethiopia. It gives Ethiopia some experience in building another type of ship and the large size gives more room for cadets. The hangar can be used a classroom or store space.
