New Board added

Gentlemen,

in our Archives you´ll now find a board for reviews. There you can place your opinions, notes, rants etc. regarding books. We had threads and posts now and then in the past including interesting information about books but no place to collect it. The new board should serve this purpose.

Feel free to post reviews about any book you like. While the focus surely is on warships and planes, history and geography - stuff we need for our SIM - you can also "advertise" your favorite Manga or fantasy novel.

Hopefully you like it,

HoOmAn

I assume that requesting info about a certain book will also fit in that category.

Sounds like you are referring to a person like me. :-)

You need to see a doctor. It is obvious you're suffering from Swamphen-itus!!
Perhaps I should do a review on a book that deals with this highly contageous and very dangerous condition of the mind.

Quaint. I was going to write a little blurb about Robert Massie's "Dreadnought" but the forum fears my opinions and won't let me in.

The Guns of August was written by Barbara W. Tuchman (First published in 1962).

I bought that book a couple months ago, a nice one.

Wes - stop playing with the edit buttons. You're putting words in my mouth.

Ahem.......

If its the same book I think it is I hear its quite impressive. Did Robert Massie also write a book called "The guns of August"?

Now that I've edited the edit and recieved an answer to my question I'm going to recite "do not confuse edit with quote or reply" 100 times......

"do not confuse edit with quote or reply"
"do not confuse edit with quote or reply"
"do not confuse edit with quote or reply"

Massie's Dreadnought is a good read for understanding European relations before the first world war and the naval arms race. Its thick and heavy going in places. Hes also written a sequel, Castles of Steel, which I haven't read yet but deals with WWI.

Should be fixed now....

Btw, as an admin you should be able to fix the board settings yourself. ;o)

I recall seeing "castles of steel" in the local bookstore, I should pick it up next time I see it.

I think Rocky left it for me to fix which works for me...its a good reminder of my latest bad habid.

Ah, but being able to fix it and knowing how to fix it are two different matters...
