The Seven Seas - The journal of the K.D.M. Naval Academy

January Edition.

O Happy Day!!

My fellow students, today brings to us great and glorious tidings.

The Admiralty have laid down not just one but TWO "TYR" class battleships!!

These ships, though not as large as some battleships of other navies, should be more than capable of holding their own in combat.
With the aid of our Iberian, Italian and Dutch allies, the armour to be used, has been tested and found to be as good as anything else currently in service.

Also, more of the new "Hoenir" class CL's are to be built and 2 new classes of DD's are to be started this year.

All this good news is tinged with a hint of sorrow as the Armoured Cruisers "Thor" and "Odin are to be scrapped.

The old Gods are dead, long live the new Gods!

Ragnarok has come...
I think it would have been more suitable to have called the CL class "Fenris".

And what is wrong with the name "Hoenir"?

"Fenris" is being saved for something REALLY Nasty!

Thats an incredible ammount of AA for a 1927 design.

I don't know if I said it before, but I see the 57mm as anti PT Boat also, and I have had a bad experience with aircraft, so the designers decided that after that incident, and our own experiments with PT boats, that it might be a good idea to up-gun on the light end of the scale.

I'd like to see KDM The Little Mermaid, meself.

Commodore: when Roger gets his battle system down pat, you and I oughta have a battle of mini-battleships, Tyr versus Akbar.

Sounds like a good idea, OUTSIDE the sim, of course!!
I've lost enough ships to the Indian Navy!!

But of course. We little guys have to conserve our precious warships.

We could storyline it, though, as the outcome of some potential client's analysis of competing designs. "Battleship Akbar and Tyr both performed very well, battering each other to a pulp, at which point the Nabob determined that in fact he could not afford a battleship and instead ordered a pair of large destroyers, one from each nation."

I hope the Nabob won't mind if I pack his destroyer with enough TNT to launch it and him into space!!
