That´s pretty heavy armor for a carrier and really good underwaterprotection (bulges, TDS). Together with her high speed she´ll ge hard to catch...

Not a bad design, albeit a little low on planes for 20+kts.

The armour isn't that heavy compared to other similar carriers. The 7" belt provides some protection against 210mm fire, but the belt is both shallow and short compared to the hull length. The TDS is quite good for her speed and hull form, but i think she'll still sink too easily.

For 20kT 60 planes is quite good, certainly better than the 33-60 planes carried by Illustrious et al. Its also the same airgroup carried by Aquila/Europa yet they also carry 20% aircraft as spares.

Altogether she's a bit strange. She isn't armoured well enough, yet also lacks offensive power by having a small airgroup. Her speed should keep her safe, but she can't outrun shells or torpedoes.

Well the Europa is three feet deeper which will give you a significant ammount of additional hull strength. Europa's standard displacement is about the same as the Soryu's normal displacement. I stick to what we agreed upon and use a speed in excess of 34 knots to use the transom stern whereas the Europa uses a transom stern with a speed of a mere 30.74 knots. If I go down to that speed, I could definitely get more out of that ship. So looking at that, I don't think you can really compare the Europa to the Soryu.
Still if you think that she is a bit strange, then I think I have acchieved my goal.
