Yet another raid, this time of a large beef cattle ranch, has the authorities of the Colonial Administration reduced to such desperation that they have called upon the assistance of the Marine Nationale. While the outrages occur too far from the sea to permit naval gunfire to be effective, they have occured well within range of patrol and strike aircraft. In response to this request for assistance, the Marine Nationale has sent the Aircraft Carrier Normandie, of the Atlantic Fleet, to maintain aerial patrols of the area. A spokesman for the Navy remarked "This operation is eagerly accepted by the navy, for the opportunity it provides to work out proceedures for conducting operations of naval aviation in cooperation with ground forces. We have also inquired of our allies Atlantis and Russia if they would be interested in this opportunity to exercise the as yet unused capabilities of their Carrier Aviation arm."
