The time we've been looking forward to with concerned anticipation has arrived. HMS Invincible is much more appropriate for her name than her predecessor...

I have never understood what posessed Their Lordships of the Admiralty to hang Invincible on a ship with a six-inch belt and a seven-inch main battery turret face...

She really was HMS Invincible. She could defeat any ship afloat in 1908 that was slower than 27knts, with the exception of HMS Dreadnought.

"And Goeben could defeat Estafey. But it didn't turn out that way when they met."

A point well known to the Turks.....

"And with those waist turrets, she could even shoot herself ; )"

Not an uncommon triat for ships of that era!, and not comforting either.
