1925 Diana class CL

Ok, new ships for 1925, I´m going to post a few of them, beginning with this little one.

These are the first light cruisers of the RN that have their main armament in turrets.

Small units, they´ll replace the older Boadicea class cruisers that will be decomissioned shortly after this class enter service. Lacking a seaplane, this class is most likely to be used as destroyer leader. They can be fitted for minelaying or armed with depth charges in case it´s necessary.

What a wonderful little creature she is - much like an ARETHUSA backwars. :o) She looks very british, with some influence from historical EXETER, LEANDER and ARETHUSA if I´m right.

Top view could be more detailed, though (and no, i won´t stop mentioning it everytime! *g*).

You´ve build her to reduced cross-sec hull-strength as per our "Rules for Gentlemen", haven´t you? Good move even though with her freeboard lowered a little bit and probably 2 secondaries removed it should have been possible to build her up to 1,0. But hey, that´s two guns less...

Keep it coming,

Glad you like her Hooman. I´m trying to mix bits from here and there, trying to get an appearance as british as posible. Good to know that thins are working out well.

As for the aft superfiring layout, initially I was going to draw a mini-Arethusa, but when I was drawing the bridge... I felt it was too high... even if it was not reflected in the sprignsharp report, so I thought lowering one deck would look better. That meant putting the superfiring turret aft. I know that was not really usual for RN ships of that time, that´s why I had my concerns about her look.

And don´t worry about metioning that the top view could be more detailed, I´m used to It, It wouldn´t be the same without your usual comments ;-) . I´m trying to detail it more with every new drawing I do.

As for the cross-sec strength, I´d love to get it to 1.00, but as you say, two guns less would be quite worse, especially if they´re part of the AA battery.

Nicely done. Sweet picture too.
