Nordmark Infrastructure

I should have posted this earlier, but got sidetracked by various things, including a less than stable computer. As it is, I found certain problems with regards to infrastructure, as I found myself with only 60 points to support a balanced fleet around 9 capitals. It took some time to determine what to do with this - if I had been left with only 60 points, the only way of realistically retaining Nordmark in the sim would be to change Nordmark's place in the treaty. Eventually I arrived at a possible solution, which Wes found reasonable, and which preserved the Nordmark design-history I already had formed in my mind: When Chile orders two battleships from European yards shortly before WW1, these ships are ordered not in Britain, but in Nordmark. The ships have been Springstyled, the data listed below the infrastructure. The two ships fit in Type 3 docks, while the new capital ships constructed for the Royal Nordmark Navy at the time required Type 4. This increased my points to 80, 10 less than France (which has a considerably smaller treaty-allowance than Nordmark under the treaty). As far as I can determine, this also increases my factory-allowance to 18.

The navy has two distinct areas of responsibility - the Atlantic, where the important part is invasion-defence against enemy battlefleets, and protection of communications between the parts of the kingdom, and the Baltic, where the prime responsibility is invasion-defence and support of landforces. As a result, the larger vessels tend to be distributed to the Atlantic area, in support of the Battlesquadron, while smaller, more specialised vessels tend to be distributed to the Baltic fleet. At the time of the treaty, the core of the Baltic Fleet is made up of ten coast-defence armour-clads, in three classes; seven will be retained under the treaty. These include in the support-organisation three somewhat unusual cruisers in the 4000-5500ton range, armed with 15cm/5.9inch guns in twin enclosed turrets.

The battleships were laid down in 1913, but the war slowed progress somewhat. At the time they were completed, Nordmark had just joined the war, and the ships were laid in reserve for Nordmark until the end of the war. They were then handed over to Chile, and named Almirante Latorre and Almirante Cochrane.
