News Release from the Indian Navy

The Indian Navy would like to take this opportunity to report that it is completing discussions with the Royal South African Navy regarding the sale of the battleship RSAN Uruguay. The exact terms of the sale will be reported within the next two weeks.

The sale will result in India legally obtaining the ship prior to 1-1-21. However, the ship will require several months in a South African drydock to repair damage sustained in a collision with a civilian vessel several weeks ago. It is expected that the ship will recommission in September of 1921 under a new name.

A team of shipwrights will soon be proceeding to South Africa to supervise repairs, and a command crew will be selected by January.
