Atlantian coastal fortifications Part 1

The various coastal fortifications of Atlantis were extensively upgraded during and shortly after the great war using the main battery's of several predreadnoughts and cancelled or scrapped ships. The Pre-dreads Tyrrhenia, Theseus, Etamin, Lyra, Alioth and Melampus all had their main armaments removed and placed in concrete fortified structures bearing the names of all but Alioth and Etamin.

These names were reserved for the battery's built using the cancelled Alioth class Battlecruiser triple 14" turrets. One of Tyrrhenia's turrets was severely damaged in the Dardanelles campaign and could not be used for the installation bearing her name. It was replaced by a turret from her sister Alioth, the other turret being stockpiled with the other 12" turrets removed from ships now scrapped.

The battleships Calessus, Ophiuchus, Mneseus, Ampheres, Elasippus and Erebus each with 10x12" had their turrets removed for a total of 60x12" in 30 twin turrets. These in addition to the turrets built for the cancelled Calessus and Melampus class battleships (56x15", 28 turrets) and 14" turrets removed from Arrogant, Fearless and Agamemnon (20x14" guns, 10 turrets) have been put in storage for future use or eventual scrapping.

Names are given to all battery's over 7.5" and/or have recieved turrets from capital ships.

Atlantean history timeline

1500BC: first ancient texts dipict history in Atlantis

1400-1300 BC: Atlantis conquors, colonizes or trades with Portugal, Southern Spain, Canary Islands Mauritainia, Morroco and Algeria.

1300-1200 BC: Atlantis colonizes South America, Southern England and Ireland. (stonehenge is Atlantian architechture similar to ruins on the Canary islands)
Atlantis engages Egypt (via Libya) and Greece in war leading to alliances with the Trojans, Ethiopians and Hittites along with a rouge Greek king, Klydon of Scheria.

1270: Trojan war, Atlantis sends several warlords, including King Memnon of Ethiopia who is the son of Mauritainian King Tithonus. King Memnon sides with Atlantians and Trojans due to the fact that his brother Emathion is killed by Herecles who is Greek.

1200: Greek dark ages, Great deluge aflicts Atlantis
(great floods and sizemic activity rocks the region, killing thousands) later its discovered that a dramatic meteor shower created by the comet enke-oljato seriously effected the great civilizations in the med.

1000-500 BC: Phonicians conquor eastern half of the Med, while Ethiopians conquor Egypt. Mauritainian Empire established, comes into conflict with Autochthon (Morroco and Algerian portions now controled by Atlantis)

500-1 BC: unknown...

1-360 AD: Romans Conquor Lyra (Largest Island south of Atlantis) and North Eastern Atlantis.

385-410 AD: Romans leave Europe and Atlantis, Visigoths colonize North eastern Atlantis, while Lyrian empire is founded in the absence of the Romans, Autochthon also colonized by Visigoths.

450 AD: Autochthons drive out Visigoths, Lyrian Empire flurishes

800-1000 AD: Atlantians in conflict with Visigoths in the north and Lyrian Empire. Vikings weaken the Visigoths enough that Atlantis succeeds in driving them off their shores by 1100 AD

1000-1200 AD: Atlantis is drawn into several conflicts with the Almoravid dynasty. Emboldened by their success in Iberia they attempt to conquer the Western Sahara, Autochthon and Morrocco. Atlantis succeeds in warding off the Almoravids as they are also busy fighting the Iberians and Almohad Caliphate and are too weak to hold their previous gains. Atlantis would later be drawn into conflict with the Almohad Caliphate as well

1200-1300 AD: Atlantis and Lyra at war, Western Sahara through conflict separates from Mauritanian Empire, Almohad Caliphate is sowing discord in Atlantean and Iberian territories

Iberians conquor Autochthon and Canary Islands, attempt to colonize Northern Atlantis without much success. They do however manage to impede Atlantean efforts to conquer and stabilize the Western Sahara and Mauritanian empire as Atlantis is still dealing with the Lyrian's.

1300-1400 AD: Atlantis defeats Lyrian empire, enters conflict with Western sahara and Iberian controled Authochthon

1400-1500 AD: Atlantis conquors Western Sahara, which leads to further conflict with Mauritania

1500-1600 AD several wars with Mauritainia end in victory for Atlantis resulting in Atlantian control of Autochthon, Western Sahara and Mauritania

1600-1770 AD Several small conflicts between Iberia and Atlantis lead to annexation of Canary Islands but defeats in the Azores for Atlantis. Last and largest conflict results in the rebirth of the Atlantian navy as a sizable fighting force, colonization of Trinidad, Tobaga and Grenada and the creation of the Atlantian Empire

1800-1900 AD: Atlantis enters the Industrial age and builds up its army and navy

Atlantis provided support for Simon Bolivars revolutionary forces in the form of mercenary's. Other nations assisted the Venezuelan Generals forces but the majority of help at least initially was from Atlantis.
The Battle of Carabobo is the main point of Atlantean assistance.

Bolivars forces liberate a large portion of the Vicroyalty of New Grenada (Venezuela and Colombia).

(Peru was given independance via diplomatic pressure from Atlantis durring the Iberian American war of 1898 in order to contain the conflict?)

Columbia and Venezuela gained independance in 1821 as Gran Colombia. After Simon Bolivars death in 1830 Gran Colombia dissolved with Colombia and Venezuela becoming independent. Later Venezuela would fall into civil war (1859 to 1863). The great loss of life, of European nationals in particular, would later spur Germany, Italy and Great Britain to enact a blockade following Venezuela's refusal to pay foreign depts. and damages from the civil war. Venezuelan President Cipriano Castro had counted on American and Atlantean intervention but only got a passive response from the later in calls for peaceful negotiations. In what would later be known as the Venesuelan crisis of 1902-03 a German fleet would proceed to bombard Fort San Carlos after two German gunboats came under fire from the fort 4 days prior attempting to enforce the blockade while chasing a merchant schooner into Lago de Maracaibo. This would force Atlantis to send its own fleet (America later also threatened to do the same) in an effort to end the crisis and forcibly bring all parties to the table.
Later in 1908-1910 under the looming threat of another civil war and yet another crisis with European powers Venezuela voluntarily joined Atlantean confederation in order to safe guard some independence.

1914 enters WW1 on the entente side

Atlantean Rocket sites

Atlantis

Black Mesa Missile Range
This base is part of Aufidus airbase. It has three test stands (2 vertical and 1 horizontal) and eventually would have a series of launch sites, similar to but not as extensive as Cape Canaveral in the United states. This site is also used for extensive surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles.

Isla De Coche, Musaeus(Venezuela)

This base has the novelty of being built close enough to its own Cement factory, providing employment at the test site and the cement works for the nearby towns.

Nouadhibou, Mauritania

Nouadhibou test and training range
Used for extensive testing of AAM series based ballistic missiles.

La Guera ballistic missile test and launch facility
Usually considered part of the Nouadhibou test and training range

Cansado launch site
Also usually considered part of the Nouadhibou test and training range
