NPC Infrastructure

Since it's been kicked around, I decided to propose a list for the infrastructure of Non Player Countries. Of course this also means that if any additional countries become PCs, this will set their baseline...

I propose that the minimum for a coastal country be 2 factories. Inland countries with 'river/lake patrols' (Hungary, for instance) get 1 factory and 1 each Type 0 slip and drydock.

Here are my proposed setups for the European NPCs. (Will work on the others and post later)

2 Type 1 slips

I'll have to make sure I don't step on any Italian or Greek toes when posting "Turkish" ports.

I'll also post Canadian infrastructure as soon as I find out why Burrard ship building isn't in janes. I'm assuming its a private yard.

Canada Infrastructure "tentative"!

Heres what I have for Canada, which would be heavy on industry but very light on ship building facility's, spiced up about for the Wesworld. Canada would have 10 to 12 factory's and 22 IP's, depending on the feedback I get.

Halifax

1x Type 3 drydock
1x Type 0 slip
1x Type 0 drydock

Montreal

1x Type 3 drydock
1x type 3 slip
2x Type 1 drydocks

Esquimalt

1x Type 2 drydock
1x Type 1 slip
1x Type 0 slip
1x Type 0 drydock

The Canadian navy would be slightly larger than historical and would be as follows:

*added to historical list

*CL HMCS Niobe (E-class ex Euphrates) replaced namesake now dismantled
CL HMCS Aurora (transfered 1920)
CL HMCS Rainbow training ship
*4x L class DD's (HMCS Ottawa, HMCS Montreal, HMCS Vancouver, HMCS Halifax, transfered 1920)
1 destroyer depot ship HMCS collingwood
1 sloop HMCS Algerine
6 subs Grilse, Tuna and 4 Holland type ( H-14, 15 CC-1, CC2)
1 sub tender HMCS Shearwater (1900) 980 tons
7 armed patrol craft

I have to work through this in detail but some quick comments:

- Regarding Belgium: Too many docks, not enough slips. The mix is unrealistic. I also think compared to many of the other countries you´ve rated Belgium too small with only 2 factories. I propose 4/12 for Belgium.

- In general: The mix docks/slips should always put the slips ahead. This is not the case for several countries.

- Regarding Argentina: Buenos Aires is part of the SAE! Look at the map to get an idea of Argentinas remaining territories. I also 7 factories seems to much for what remains of Argentina. Too many large docks compared to the number of small slips etc. (see above). Does that list of slips and docks represent Argentinas fleet list and naval history? I think we should not define Argentinas infrastructure at this point as we don´t know how the wr with Nordmark ended. I´ll try to varify that.

- Regarding Canada: Normally I´d say you´ve used too much infrastructure for Canada. However, Canada is probably the only reason to explain why Britain is still a world power given what territories GB lost in WesWorld. So I propose to boost Canada (the mix is absolutely weird and many more small slips are necessary) and make sure it remains a NPC country closely connected to GB. This will make the North Atlantic route GBs most important sealine and might give some background should we need it for storytelling. I propose 10/30 for Canada.

given the size of the navy, Austria and Hungary need more factories. Apart from that: what Hooman said ;-)

Dubrovnik is the furthest east piece of the Italian sector.

Hoo - thanks for the input. I was going off the WW1 Jane's infrastructure, hence the mixup with Buenos Aires.

I've edited the stuff to add a few more slips here and there. Also tweaked the Belgium factories - but my thought here was that the Germans trashed a lot of 'em before leaving?

RA - thanks, that's why I put a "?" 'cause I couldn't remember just where the Italian sector ended. My map isn't detailed enough to show any cities in the remaning Yugo coast - any suggestions?

given that we are about to revive Oz: does NZ belong to Oz? Or is it separate and if so, what infrastructure does it have? I'd say similar to Mexico...

Based on Walter's map, the ANZAC countries were united.

That is correct. Also there is an Oz mandate to the North-Northeast of mainland Oz, bordering with the Nippon mandates Southwest of mainland Nippon.

Ok I will modify Canada's infrastructure to around 40 IP's worth, sound reasonable?

18

Would it be realistic for canada to recieve a 6th QE class BB? I suppose I'd have to add a second E class CL and more DD's to the fleet as well.

No probl...
I mean, it could be possible. If it was built in Britain itself, it could show that British industry is strong, despite the fact that it is not as strong territory-wise.

It would be very likely in fact considering that the ABC battleships were built in Nordmark. HMS Agincourt could have been the 6th QE.
