I'm not sure if Shin ever posted it but Canada made an expedition to the Mariana Trench around 1945 with no issue.

IIRC, he did mention the departure stuff (similar to parador) but I don't think he posted any further details regarding the expedition. I was thinking back then about making a comment about it, but considering that the Canadians had been behaving themselves in the few years prior to their announced mission Pacifica was not too worried about it.

The Chinese however had the Bering Strait incident a mere month ago so Pacifica as wary of letting armed troublemakers in the area. If the Chinese had waited a year or two (and behaved properly in those two years), then there would have been no issues either with them coming to explore the Mariana Trench.

There is always the possibility of Pacifica quietly running to Big Bro Japan and complain about the bad Chinese and then have them make the vessel disappear under mysterious circumstances, a victim of the Pacifica Triangle. :)

Tuesday 17. March - Kunming News

After intensive preparation and a long series of tests, today the Support Wing of the 2nd Squadron of the Chinese Air Battle Force flew an aerial refueling maneuver. In this test a AA-4A bomber was re-fueled by a BA-3K tanker for the first time with a flying boom system. To date, the existing tanker aircraft of the Chinese Air Force are equipped with the looped-hose system. The new system provides some advantages like a higher fuel flow rate, less susceptible to pilot errors and fatigue and also less susceptible to adverse weather conditions. As a further refueling option, the Probe-and-drogue system is also being tested.

Saturday 21.March - Guizhou Aviation Industy at Lincheng

High-ranking representatives of the Chinese Air Force will be presented the design of a new bomber in a meeting room of Guizhou Aviation Industry at Lincheng. The design of the four-engine high altitude bomber "YBA-5" was developed by Guizhou Aviation in cooperation with the air-force office for tactical and technical requirements. The aircraft should have a maximum speed of 630 km / h. The calculated maximum range is 8000 km with 6000 kg bombs. A short-term bomb overload of 10 000 kg in the fuselage should be possible. When drafting the design, the experience gained in the flight testing and production of the AA-4 medium bomber was also taken into account. The result is, not surprisingly, more or less an enlarged version of this medium bomber.

Air Force Colonel Wang Hongju, the CiC of the Air Battle Force, gave a reassuring nod to the development director of Guizhou Aviation Li Zaiyong. "I like the design." he said approvingly. "A realization of the project should be possible very quickly, because you can fall back on existing components, or ?"

"Yes, we will try everything to satisfy you." replied Li Zaiyong.

"Then we can finally scrap our old BE-1 & BA-2 bombers. Together with the BR-4 bomber we have another modern powerful heavy bomber and our enemies will think about whether they want to get into trouble with the Chinese Tiger or not." Wang Hongju thought while he was looking at the drawing of the bomber.

Monday 23.March - Submarine Base Guangzhou (Canton)

It was early evening and U-115 was held only by a single line at the pier. High up on the bridge were Captain Chen Jianhua and his navigator, Lieutenant Ma Xingrui, together with Lieutenant Chen Wu, the First Officer, standing in the light, west wind blowing evening breeze. A few people ashore watched the departing boat, including the squadron commander, who always said good-bye to each of his boats. It was barely an hour until sunset, when the chinese flag was raised on the tower of U-115 and began to flutter in the evening breeze. The captain nodded to his First Officer, who leaned forward and said in the intercom: »Both engines one-third back ... « Deep below them in the engine room, the huge diesel engines began to rumble, and the water began to bubble under the stern of the boat. Slowly U-115 moved aft and when Chen Jianhua ordered, "engines a third ahead," the boat stopped and began slowly and hesitantly driving forward. U-115 was on a new patrol.
