This is the Jiangmu, the ex-Filipino Lagonoy, yes? I don't suppose you happen to have a sim of the rebuilt ship handy, do you?

Tuesday 21 October 1947; Pyongyang
Today is a special day, Ambassador Zhi Feng thought, when he left the hotel in the center of Pyongyang and was on the way to the presidential palace. The relations between the two countries have been laid on ice in the years after the conflict. This was to change today; his mission was to reopen the Chinese Embassy and resume diplomatic relations with Chosen.

Okiedokie.

For reference, when the Jiangmu passes the Sunda Strait, there shall be a French destroyer loitering about to take pictures and shadow her for at least a few hours. Nothing particularly aggressive in nature - they'll keep at least 2-3km minimum distance; just keeping a watch on a ship that has already proven to be politically troublesome. ;)

And the Philippine Navy will have a more than passing interest in the vessel. If spotted by Philippine air patrols she will be shadowed by a regular rotation of aircraft until such time as she passes out of range of shore-based aircraft. There could even be a submarine or two lurking about, though they would try to keep themselves hidden. Nothing aggressive mind you... :whistling:

HICMS Jiangmu ; 5 dgs 55 min South ; 105 dgs 53 min East, Tuesday 04 November 1947
»What a beautiful sight !« Zhao Kuangyin thought and throwed his cigarette overboard. Then he crossed his arms and looked at the sunrise, which caused the clouds into a glowing pink like cotton balls. A few miles away a destroyer was visible and looked impressive even over this distance. He was following the chinese ships for quite some time. Not far behind the carrier, the other chinese ships intersected the one and a half meters waves. Some lamps exchanged signals.

On the bridge of the carrier captain Yelu Longxu asked his first officer, "What about our shadow ?"

"French destroyer has followed us since we entered the Sunda Strait - however he keeps respectfully distance." answered Wanyan Liang

During their voyage across the Indian Ocean, they crossed only the course of various merchants and oilers, but here in the busy Sunda Strait, of course they could expect to encounter some war ships - thought Captain Longxu.

HICMS Jiangmu ; 10 dgs 20 min North - 113 dgs 50 min East, Wednesday 05 November 1947

The water rushes past the bow of the aircraft carrier. Like a giant knife, the bow cuts through the sun-drenching surface of the Pacific Ocean. In the hull of the 140-meter-long escort carrier with its over 500 crewmembers and 20 aircraft on board the heavy machines are humming. Their power still causes a constant vibration on the flight deck and here at the bridge. Captain Longxu looked at the radar screen, and at every turn he saw the striking "Biep" of their invisible companion. He had appeared when they came near the Nansha Dao and has been following them in vicinity. "If this is not a philippine sea reconnaissance, I'll eat a broom," he muttered to himself. “We are in international waters, so everything is fine. Well, let's show him something.” he grinned, and ordered the helmsman to turn the carrier into the wind.

Tuesday, 11 November 1947; Chinese Embassy in Manila

Ambassador Dong Sen Kim looked out of his window to the street outside the Chinese Embassy and saw a large number of demonstrators who had been noticeably loud for the last days. He had seen such resentment some years ago, just before the Sino-Filipino war. “And all this only because of a ship”, he thought to himself. Slowly he began to understand the Filipinos, after all, he is now since years ambassador in Manila. This was much more about the principle than about the fact that China had just bought a discarded ship of the Philippine Navy over his friends in South Africa. The Philippines had taken major modernization measures for their armed forces in the past years. They were always ready to defend their country, no matter against whom. He walked slowly to his desk, took his cup of tea and drank a sip while he was sitting down.
