M48 Medium Tank “Kurjak”



Posted here for peer review. Prototype expected to appear in spring of 1948, with production commencing sometime in 1949.

Fire Control:

Graduated target position indicator ring inside cupola for commander. Turret position indicator with two dials for gunner

Ammunition:

Main gun – 70 rounds
Machineguns – 4,000 rounds

Armor:

Frontal: 100-120mm
Sides: 50mm
Turret frontal: 100mm
Turret sides: 80mm
Turret rear: 50mm

Suspension:

Running gear per side – one final drive wheel, one idler wheel. Three bogies with six roadwheels on quarter-elliptic springs; five return rollers.

Maximum Road Speed: 45kilometres per hour

Vertical Step: 800mm
Trench Crossing: 2 metres
Fording Depth: 4 metres
Road Range: 170 kilometres

Looking at other tanks within the 37-39 tonnes ballpark the design seems reasonable.
I guess Yugoslavia would now be looking to a 90mm gun to counter the heavy tanks the Italians possess.
