From Factories
La Combattante IIb type motor torpedo boats Bar-le-Duc and Laffaux laid down July 1st, 1947; launched complete on August 1st, 1947. 160 tons added to each (320t total).

Transactions
None.

Other Notes
Experimental Motor Torpedo Boat La Combattante continues conducting extensive trials in the Manche to test its experimental gas turbine.

The nine Gallant-class destroyers are sent to the dockyards for scrapping, with work completed by the end of September. The 3rd Flotilla Torpillieurs, composed of the nine Le Terrible-class destroyers, begins decommissioning in Toulon, with the ships prepared for scrapping in Q4/1947.

The new aircraft carrier Terrible is laid down in La Rochelle. No official pronouncements are given about the ship's specifications, but rumors around the DCNS shipyard indicates the ship shall be the largest warship ever built in France, meaning that they are larger than the 54,000-ton Liberte-class battleships. An unofficial model 3m long is displayed at the French Navy Museum in Toulon, showing a ship with enclosed hurricane bows (as on the previous three carrier classes), three catapults, and a starboard-side island with an angled funnel.

Ships being scrapped
- 9x Gallant-class destroyers for 202 tons each.

- Total tonnage in recycling until Q3/1947: (1x715) = 715
- Total tonnage in recycling until Q4/1947: (1x715) = 715
- Total tonnage in recycling until Q2/1948: (9x202) = 1818

Marine Nationale Order of Battle, October 1st, 1947
The Marine Nationale is divided into three major and one minor fleet organizations based on geography: the Atlantic, Mediterranean, and Pacific Fleets, and the Indian Ocean Flotilla. Another strategic-level command, the Force d'Action Navale, is assigned to a geographical command by order of the Commander-in-Chief; as a matter of practice it is headquartered in the Mediterranean. Due to differing mission priorities as well as effective command and control, the Pacific Fleet is subdivided into East and West, each incorporating a defined overall operations area, although both exist under the same overall command.
