Other Notes
Technology development and investigatory committees are working on the following projects:
- Proyecto-P: Proposed Oceanic Patrol Ship to replace Vanguardia, Ignacy Domeyko, and Piloto Pardo.
- Proyecto-Q: Proposed midlife rebuild of Libertad.
- Proyecto-R + "Matorral": Exploratory studies commissioned by Naval Ordnance with input from Sisdef.

As of the end of Q3/1947, all capital ships, carriers, cruisers, and destroyers have been refitted with dradis (radar) of some make and model. Overall, 77% of the Armada de Chile's ships have been fitted with radar. The Armada's goal is now to complete dradis installation on all ships larger than fifty tons displacement.

The helicopter-carrying cruiser Guardia Marina Hyatt is decommissioned in June 1947 and is awaiting disposal. It's replacement, a Proyecto-O design cruiser, is laid down in July in Talcahuano as the Arica. The cruiser Concepción is retired in September and the remaining crew transfer to the new cruiser Los Lagos. The cruiser Chillán will be retired in December of this year, with the crew to form the plankowner crew of the new Valparaíso.

The destroyer leaders Almirante Lynch and Almirante Condell will be retired in December 1947, with their places in Destroyer Flotilla 1 to be taken by the first two Almirante Simpson class destroyers. The names Almirante Lynch and Almirante Condell shall be assumed by the second pair of Simpson-class ships. Upon the completion of further Simpson-class destroyers (announced to number eight in total, ordered over 1947 and 1948), they will replace Capitan Thomson-class destroyers, which shall be retired to the reserve or scrapped.

The destroyers of the Temerario-class, organized as the 4th and 7th Destroyer Flotillas, have entered the disposal process. The first two ships have been scrapped, while the next two vessels, Magnífico and Unánime, are breaking up this quarter. The final two ships in the 4th Destroyer Flotilla, Valeroso and Estratégico, have started initial preparations for scrapping. The ships of the 4th Destroyer Flotilla will be scrapped, while the ships of the 7th Destroyer Flotilla will be retained for a period of time.
