I cannot quite picture the layout...
Got a rough layout?
Something in the form of this:

Main/secondary layout for the Takao
----------#--#-----------
---A-Bs-C-------X-Ys-Z---
----------#--#-----------

# are the secondaries.

Here ya go:

A - twin 8"
X,Y - twin 6"
# - twin 100mm

Aha! I read the main guns bit wrong. I thought there were two single 8 inch turrets, but there is actually just the one turret.

This ones a bit strange and larger than 4000t unfortunately. the 2 8" are forward superfiring with 2 casemated 6" below and 2 casemated 6" on the same deck, all forward. The 100mm guns are amidships.
Aft is the catapult and provision for up to 6 aircraft.

"Don't tempt me, baby"

That's a really nice-looking design...if I had the infrastructure (and an extra 8" turret) I might well build it, too. ;) BTW the 8" are 1901 models, the 6", 1923.

My original design for Maranduque was virtually a clone of the RL Swedish Fylgia, with a "diamond" turret arrangement - 8" forwards, 6" wings and aft, with 3" guns in casemates. When I discovered that Nordmark had built Fylgias in WW, I decided to change it; final inspiration came from the Warships Design Board.

Yes, a very useful place to visit, isn't it?
