The aircraft carrier Mapuche is in reserve with a caretaker crew, pending decommissioning and disposal. The crew has been shifted to the Patria. Rumors about the possible retirement of the Chiloe have also increased.

The Armada has announced that the helicopter-carrying cruiser Guardia Marina Hyatt will be decommissioned in June 1947, with the crew to be transferred to the new cruiser Araucanía. Rumors indicate that one or both Concepción-class cruisers may be retired in September or October of this year.

The twelve destroyers of the Temerario-class, organized as the 4th and 7th Destroyer Flotillas, are in reserve with caretaker crews. In spite of this, it has been informally announced that the new Almirante Simpson-class destroyers will be assigned to Destroyer Flotilla 1, possibly signaling that these eight destroyers may also be moved to the reserve.

Overview: The Flota de Alta Mar represents the main striking power of the Chilean Navy. Overview: The Flota de Litoral is responsible for the patrol of Chilean coastal waters for the purposes of maritime security and policing.
