Other Notes
Technology development and investigatory committees are working on the following projects:
- Proyecto-O: Proposed replacement for Marina Guardia Hyatt.
- Proyecto-J3: ASMAR finalizes design of a modified Williams class destroyer for immediate production; long-lead items are ordered.

Two destroyer escorts (Reserve Hull 015 through Reserve Hull 016) are disarmed and parked in Talcahuano awaiting free drydocks for scrapping. Some breaking-up has begun at dockside (in order to speed scrapping later).

The Chilean Navy installs a steam catapult from Britain aboard the Patria, making her one of the first carriers in the world to benefit from this technological advancement. With the expected commissioning of the Patria, the aircraft carrier Mapuche is decommissioned to the reserve. Informal planning for a steam catapult refit to Libertad is being discussed.

The eighth of the US-built Aldea-class destroyers (the former Farragut-class) complete their modernization. Due to the difficulties of refitting these ships to modern requirements, the Armada's leadership has decided to rule out any future purchases of secondhand destroyers, unless further Erich Koellner or Lebrecht Maas class ships can be acquired, which seems unlikely.
