Overview

The Chinese armed forces were at first equipped with a variety of available commercially vehicles. In 1932 the Chinese Defense Ministry began, therefore, with a simplification of the car fleet. The aim was a standard car (Jeep) in three weight classes: light, medium und heavy. These cars should have: permanent four-wheel drive, Locking differential, standard chassis und replaceable wear parts.

Due to the low performance of the chinese automotive industry, however, none of the producers was in a position to supply the quantities which are required alone. Therefore, the production has been transferred to a number of manufacturers:

  • Shulang
    Light 4x4 army car
    Zhong Hua Motors Ltd. (Beijing)
    Dong Feng Motors Company (Wuhan(Hankow))

  • Baiyou

    Shenzhen Automotive Limited (Shenzhen)

  • Diao
    Heavy 4x4 army car
    Nanjing Automobile Group (Nanjing)
    Zhong Hua Motors Ltd. (Beijing)

Shuita

Shuita
