Another Year, Another Airshow

For many, many years the Dutch Air Force Days had a mock-up of the Joint Garbage Can Strike Fighter... and this year was no exception. They still had it on static, but we could see two real ones in 'action' during the Air Power Demo as well.

It has actually been a busy few weeks for the various display teams when it comes to losses. First an F-16 from the Thunderbirds goes down and about an hour later an F-18 of the Blue Angels. Then about a week later (last Thursday) a Su-27 from the Russian Knights goes down and a bit later that day two F-5s from Patrouille Suisse collide with each other and one of them goes down.

The Patrouille Suisse collision was during the training for the Air Force Days at Leeuwarden. I usually go on the Thursday as well to take pictures of training and arriving aircraft but I had something else to do last Thursday which is a shame because I would have some photos of that accident happening if I had gone there.

Here's a video of the other F-5 damaged in the collision landing at the base.
