Considering the extremely short distance, I have always found it odd that this train is called "The Asia Express". To me it is more likely "The Southern Manchurian Express". :)

The Southern China Railway Company has dediced to modernize the Gebishi Railway (an abbreviation for Gejiu-Bisezhai Railway). The still used 600mm narrow gauge will be changed to the 1000mm gauge which is used at the Kunming-Hai Phong Railway.

Exkursion:
The Kunming-Haiphong Railway from Haiphong via Hanoi to Kunming was built since 1900 by the french-dominated Chemins de Fer de l'indochine et du Yunnan (CIY) and was completely open for the scheduled traffic from 31th March 1910
In order to tap the mineral resources near Kunming, the railway Bisezhai-Shiping was built from a company in 1915 that was exclusively in chinese hands. This track should serve as a feeder to the Kunming-Haiphong Railway. To compensate the problems, which was caused by the topography, that had prevented here the construction of the meter gauge railway, the route was built in 600 mm gauge, for which also standardized narrow-gauge material could be used. In foresighted the bridges and tunnels already made for a track width of 1000mm. In November 1921, the first trains rolled between Bisezhai and Geiju. In October 1928 the branch line of Jijie to Jianshui was finished which was soon extended to Shiping and Baoxiu.

Taking a look at wikipedia => Lashio's coordinates are 22° 56′ 0″ N, 97° 45′ 0″ E so it's definetely on the territory of Burma ;)

You need to look at the game's map, here. Much of OTL Burma is Bharati territory and it is not clear if Lashio is British or Bharati on that map.

Yes, but when you look at the Big Ass Map, you will see that part of Burma is Indian and when I compare Google Earth with the Big Ass Map, I am pretty certain that it falls into the Indian part of Burma.

I also compared it with our games map and if you take a look at the coordinates you will see, that Lashio is located round about there where the "A" character of Burma is. May be a little bit more to the right and upper side but definetely on Burmese Territory.

I used the path option to make a big cross where it is on Google Earth and then used the surrounding border shapes to determine where it is on the big map... and after having done that, it is even further into Indian territory then I originally thought.
