One could also argue that the Japanese sub cross section looks rather slim and modern, almost like a modern American sub.

Yes, that was because I realized while making the sketch that I forgot about the deck bit and the keel when I simmed the submarine so I should correct the sim so the beam is a bit narrower (while correcting everything to keep the sim the same). Also I should have used something to assist my poor drawing qualities to make it a bit more acceptable.

Messing around a bit with the pic while looking at the Type VII cross section, it should be a bit more like this... This is with a 24 feet diameter instead of 26 feet as it is simmed right now. Maybe needs to be even smaller than that...

Cross section of the Type VII is to the left and the I-201 cross section is to the right. personally, I prefer the latter, but that would mean I would need to apply different rules to simming the submarine in springsharp.
(ps: I do not know about the scale of the Type VII and I-201 pic (probably not the same), but it is more about the looks of the cross section and not about dimensions)
