Paint me curious why the 80mm caliber instead of the 88mm caliber?

and who are the primary users the army, airborne troops or naval infantry?

The choice of caliber is historical see here

Further, as the munitions for this weapon could not be fired from any other weapon, you would want to distinguish them from other munitions.

The first users would be the regular infantry of the Heer; it would be very useful for the airborne troops; and the naval infantry would eventually get theirs.

What figures do you have on the HEAT (or Hollow Charge Anti-Tank as wiki lists them) rounds?
You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

Unfortunately, not yet. I might have to make some SWAGs at them.

While I cant find anything for the 80mm, the German Gr 39 HL HEAT rounds for both the L56 and L71 are noted at having 90mm @30 degrees. Source. At lease a guide.

I have found some preliminary information on the munitions used by this weapon. The entry has been updated.

Can you share the source of the figures for the Patr H1 round?

I though so, just wanted to see if there was another source. Given the three books given as sources for the overall artical, I can accept the figure.
