Other Notes
---- The
Perm-class ice-capable tankers are named
Kola and
Novaya Zemlya.
---- Two torpedo cruisers, one of the
Minsk class and one of the
Kiev class, have accidentally shared the name
Irkutst. The second vessel, belonging to the
Kiev class, is renamed
Perekop in order to differentiate between them.
---- Two ships (the aircraft carrier
Kazan and the
Saratov-class cruiser
Kazan) share the same name. I have found reference to a light cruiser named
Taganrog which doesn't appear in the encyclopedias but appeared in the order of battle about the same time as
Saratov (conversely, the cruiser
Kazan doesn't appear there at all). Therefore, I am determining that the
Saratov class cruiser known as
Kazan and the
Taganrog are in fact the same ship.
