Textile Manufacturers

Lagae Linens
Established in 1858 as a manufacturer of fine cambric and handkerchiefs. The company took over Tissages de Gryze in Meulebeke and expanded their weaving production. Production capacity was increased with a factory extension completed in 1943.

Société Linière La Lys
Textile company located in Brugsepoort, Gent. The company was founded on July 6 1838 by Félix-Joseph de Hemptinne, The Gandt-Vander Schueren, Pierre Rosseel and Jacob Caeneghem and began the manufacture of mechanically spun flax yarn and hemp thread . The company used the old buildings of the Durot-Clemmen textile printers. An extension was built in 1864. In 1892, it was the first factory in Ghent which was fully electric. By 1900 there were 63,500 spindles for spinning flax which were served by nearly 3,000 workers, of which 2,000 were female.

Libeco
Founded in 1864 in Meulebeke, Flanders as a warehouse for pure linen fabrics produced in the homes of the cottage industry of the region. In 1904, the company started its own production and post-war started exporting, especially to South America.

Seyntex
Founded in Oostrozebeke, in 1908, by Arthur Seynaeve as a flax weaving mill. Over the years the company has expanded into weaving, knitting, dyeing, finishing, coating, textile printing and manufacturing. John Field is a trademark of Seyntex for horse riding and shooting and hunting clothes. Special features of John Field garments include magnets for closing pockets (in order to quickly grasp a bullet), high visibility, low visibility and anti-mosquito features.

Sioen-Sabbe
Textile mill founded in 1907 by Adolf Sioen in Rumbeke. The company today is owned by his son Daniel Sioen.

Van de Velde
Manufacturer of luxury lingerie located in Schellebelle, Wichelen, which was founded in 1919 by Achiel and Margaret Van de Velde.
