Anti-Tank Guns of the Ejercito Argentina

The Rheinmetall 37mm anti-tank gun was one of the first in Europe and has sold well. In 1929 Argentina brought some twenty-four to equip every division’s anti-tank company. In 1934 another batch was brought from Germany.

47mm M40 L/45



This unusual hybrid anti-tank gun is based on the Rheinmetall 37mm anti-tank gun and the Italian 47mm L/50 fitted to Argentina’s tanks. It uses the breech design of the 37mm M30 with a larger bore barrel and the shell of the Italian 47mm gun. A muzzle brake is also fitted. The carriage is based on that of the M30 but with sturdier legs and a curved shield. The first firing trials were held in mid-1940 and the gun entered service during 1941.
Traverse 60 degrees; elevation -5 to + 25 degrees; weight in action 792kg; muzzle velocity 2550fps; maximum range 2,500m; penetration 250m 80mm, 500m 68mm 0 degrees (57mm 30 degrees), 1000m 50mm 30 degrees.

57mm M45/It

Italian man-portable anti-tank rocket launcher developed from 1941 firing a 57mm calibre fin stabilized HEAT round. 120 ordered in 1944.
Length 1300mm, weight 6 kg, warhead 1.5kg fin stabilized HEAT, maximum range 350m, crew 2 (operator and loader) but can be operated by one man in an emergency
