Even so, I feel a little uncomfortable about a jet strike-fighter until later into the 1940, lugging this kind of load with unresponsive early jets with slow throttle responses could be a problem. As impressive as our jets our even at this stage in WW, none are carrying much armament beyond that of normal single-seat interceptors.

I don't actually think our jets are all that impressive even compared to OTL: we just have more countries that have developed them. I certainly don't feel the two French types are all that impressive, even in comparison to some of the prop planes they're supposed to replace.

I also don't think it's reasonable to place a jet into regular carrier service any time before 1947 (which, IIRC, was when the US put some FH Phantoms into squadron service). Mixed-power stuff like the Stormrider and the Fireball will probably enter service in 1945, but that's a sort of oddity. I'm considering that might license-build Stormriders instead of doing the Gargouille.
