High Priority for wartime call-up to serve as coastal and ASW escorts. ~68 tons to receive Major Refit to ASW escort or minesweeper, adding DC racks, deck guns, radios, and Kodkod. As of 1941, forty-eight of the M1922-dated 110mm deck guns from the Temerario-class destroyers are retained in order to arm naval trawlers. (This will save seven tons from the reconstruction price.)

Conversion Commission notes for War Use:
This ship is virtually identical to the Rancagua-class tank landing ships built by ASMAR for the Chilean Navy, but lacks armament, expanded crew facilities, military electronics, and damage control equipment installed as standard on the Rancagua-class. In case of war, a Level 3 Major Refit costing 156 tons would be required to rework the vessel for military use. High priority for wartime call-up to serve as amphibious landing ship; Directemar and Navimag employs naval reservists as captain and senior officers.

Puerto Eden, Chilean Large Ferry laid down 1940
The MS Puerto Eden was laid down in 1940 as part of the Chilean government's program to further develop the southern regions of Aisen and Magallanes. Due to the distances involved, a ship was designed capable of serving as a ferry with overnight service. The ship has a stern ramp and two dock-level side doors used for loading and unloading trucks and vehicles.
